I did see some Wheaton coaches there scouting, but i guess we  wont know their thoughts  on what they saw, until November.

Interesting. I have been led to believe that it is an NCAA violation to send members of a Coaching staff to scout an opponent's game live. Thus the reason you exchange the previous weekend game tapes with your next opponent. Is this factual? If so, could there be an NCAA  sanction against Wheaton brewing?  :o ;) ;D

I saw men dressed in Wheaton gear and assumed they were coaches, obviously i dont know any of them, so i sit corrected.Maybe they were players

Maybe they were Mugsy and USee!

Actually Mugsy was the guy on the cell phone yelling at me.

Not to prolong this issue, but I know it wasn't USee and I've been too busy using any free time available to finish painting the exterior of our house before the cold weather hits (finally done so that I can attend some games in person rather than listen to radio or DVR games & watch later).  Besides... I doubt the coaching staff would take any scouting information I would provide.   :P

As USee mentioned, I'm pretty sure the Wheaton coaches (and players for that matter) were busy enough that day dealing with the game at hand to go and do some live scouting.

I don't refute oldnuthin and others who may have seen some Wheaton fans who may have been taking in another CCIW game before the Wheaton game, but there are other CCIW fans on this board who often take in multiple CCIW games on a given Saturday (especially if there is a game in Naperville, Wheaton or Elmhurst and the starting times are a mix of afternoon and evening games).

It would seem odd if someone were doing some "live scouting" to show up wearing their schools gear.  Seems you'd want to blend in a bit...   ???

Live scouting rules are handled on a sport-by-sport basis within the CCIW. In men's basketball, for instance, live scouting is allowed. It's commonplace to see opposing CCIW coaches sitting in the stands at a basketball game, notebooks in hand.

I'm with you (on both of those).

It was said earlier (by ANOTHER NCC backer) that some schools would benefit more than others...but I don't see it. Sure the suburban colleges could live scout eachother and gain whatever minimal advantage that would give, while the other schools would have a tougher time doing that....but that also means that the suburban schools would have a tough time live scouting the OTHER schools, so it evens out.
You win! You always do!

I've recently obtained secret, undercover video recordings of the taunting taking place in the North endzone.  Brutal!  Appauling!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V7zbWNznbs

No denying the authenticity of the video.  Notice the similarity in accent to those living in South DuPage county.  Typically that accent & inflection only occurs in the immediate locales south of I-88 and between Naper Rd. & route 59.

Hopefully the predisposition for a "quick surrender" when savage battles are imminent will hold true for that group on Nov. 6th.

(On further inspection of this video, I'm not so sure I like the inferred symbolism of a "Christian" group of men on a quest for a "Holy Grail", aka Brass Bell, being taunted and made sport of by a ragtag cluster of buffoons who claim to already possess it.  :P)

I believe the genesis of the "no live scouting" rule is years ago when the teams used to exchange just  2 videos of recent games and sent a rep to meet each other halfway on Sundays. It was an unfair advantage to Augie, Millikin, IWU, etc who couldn't send coaches/staff (due to budget, staff and time restraints) to see games of other teams from such a distance and perhaps see games not covered by the two videos. As a result they made sure the advantage was equal by regulating only the 2 films and no live scouting. Since then all the teams exchange video electronically of every conference game (all the games are uploaded to a central server and subsequently downloaded by each team) and the need for live scouting is moot. They haven't changed the rule but it is clearly not as big a deal as it once was when there was a clear advantage to the schools in proximity to each other.

Stagg Again!!

I would guess a big part of it is that it equals everything out.  It would be a heck of a lot more difficult for Millikin, Augie and Carthage to scout than it would be for the more centralized schools.

Since they do it in basketball, and there's more games to be played in basketball (and thus a lot more need for scouting), I don't really think that this is an issue.
