Benedetti-Wehrli stadium is located on a river, and that river has flooded - resulting in the reconstruction of the stands (which saddened me since I spent many hours working on the construction of the former press box).

Not to nitpick, but North Park is located on a river as well ... although NPU's river (the North Branch of the Chicago River) is pretty shabby when compared to the mighty Father of Waters that rolls through the Quad Cities. On the other hand, the North Branch is potent enough to have deluged North Park's south campus beneath a flood two autumns ago, whereas I don't think that the Mississippi River has ever swamped the Augustana campus.

No sadness here at all!!  Without that flood, it would have been a lot more difficult to build one of the best D3 football facilities that I have seen in person!  The old wooden bleachers were awful, the lights were not bright enough and the press box was one giant cinder block.  Good riddance!

my spreads for this weeks games:

IWU (+21) @ NCC
Elmhurst (-16.5) @ Millikin
Carthage (+17.5) @ Wheaton
Augie (-41.5) @ NPU

I'm surprised at the spread in the battle of the Blue.  I really thought that game would be a tossup.   I think Wheaton pounds Carthage.   I just wasn't impressed with the O and D lines of Carthage.

Just put some on Millikin, that will change the line  ;)

Is a medieval Scandinavian sea raider tougher than himself?

Is an eastern based medieval Scandinavian sea raider tougher than a western based medieval Scandinavian sea raider?  Is a river based sea raider tougher than a large body of freshwater based sea raider?  ;)

NPU's riparian environment is augmented as well by a canal, the North Shore Channel, which runs behind the stands of the Holmgren Athletic Complex on its way to its Lake Michigan estuary next to the Ba'hai Temple in Wilmette. The North Shore Channel is the body of water that the NPU rowing team uses for practice and for its home meet. It converges with the North Branch just behind the NPU baseball team's batting cages. Over the years the NPU athletic department has lost a small fortune in baseballs and soccer balls that have been batted or booted into both the river and the canal.

Lake Michigan is a little less than three miles east of the NPU campus.

That was quite a clever comment, Matthew. We like ourselves, don't we? And what is it that's prompting you to make these clever comments all of the time? Could it be ... Satan?

SunTimes highlights IWU-NCC game this weekend

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/colleges/2822172,CST-SPT-small21.article

You would think the article would sound more like this instead, "North Central's defense, ranked 7th in the nation, held the nations 2nd leading rusher, Dion Wilson, to 83 yards despite only having the starters on the field for little more than a half".

I hope this will be a fun game to watch but these teams are alot different than they were a year ago.  I don't see IWU sticking with NCC for long.

Per a Millikin alum friend of mine, MU QB Luke Hockaday is out this week with a concussion, and maybe for the year.
