I hope that Wenger is ok.  That is a bit concerning that two weeks in a row he has struggled with stingers as he left the game immediately after destroying a Wheaton receiver.

The only cure for that injury is rest.  My oldest son was forced out of football in HS because he chose to continue to play, not being honest with the trainers about the number of stingers he was having, eventually had temporary nerve damage and lost strength in his arm.  Repeated stingers are a problem.

Congrats to North Central.  They are having a great season!

Luckily NCC has off next week  ;)

That's a rather cruel shot at NPU, don't you think?

Alas, not all that inaccurate, but still cruel! :D

sometimes, Ypsi, as we all know, the truth hurts  ;D

NCC definitely took their foot off of the gas offensively after half time when they came out of the locker room with a 261-43 edge in total yards, and elected to refrain from digging too deep into the playbook.

Took the foot off the gas?  So it had nothing to do with Wheaton's defensive adjustments? How nice of NCC not to run it up 60-3.  Give me a break!

I don't care what the edge was for NCC in the first half.  Last time I checked the game is 2 halves.  You attribute the fact that NCC only had 50 yards in the 2nd half to NCC's charity?

Do we need to go back to 2006 when NCC lead 13-0 at half only to have Wheaton hang 31 on NCC in the 2nd half.  Let me guess... that had nothing to do with adjustments either.

The Wheaton D shut down the NCC offense in the 2nd half, plain and simple.  There's no way the NCC coaches would have even suggested that the offense "take its foot off the gas" after intermission.  They remember the games of 2005, 2006, and 2007, in which one team dominated the 1st half and the other team owned the 2nd half and won the game.  I, for one, didn't start breathing easily until Wheaton self-destructed on the Cardinals' final scoring "drive".

Listen mugsy,
regardless of any type of offense ncc ran today, do you really think wheaton stood a chance? NCC'S defense controlled the game beginning to end there was not a moment in the game were there was a chance for wheaten to even get on the board.you say that you respect this and that but you don't. How about you take an ass kicking like happened today and shut your mouth for once?

Exactly why I feel Swider is the best coach in the CCIW!  There was no taking the foot off the gas and the Crackel/Hlavac statements are silly!   Congrats to the Cards on having clinched a share of the CCIW championship for 5 straight years!  Congrats to Coach Thorne on being the winningest coach in NCC history!  Finish strong and let's have some fun at home for a while in the playoffs!  Anxious to hear Usee's analysis as soccer and basketball kept me away from the game!

Agreed.

I suspect you and I must have 'smited' the 'stupid ass statement' simultaneously, as he was at +1 when I hit 'smite' and -1 when it recorded!  (And I seriously doubt Pat has suddenly given me double powers! ::))

I second that.  Let's not let the CCIW board become ugly.  Go to some other conference's board if you want to write that stuff.

Really? Did you watch the game today or did you follow mugsys analysis? If the game was closer than I thought then I apologize.

Hard as it may be for you to believe, NCC's offensive intensity did fall off when they came out of the locker room, and yes the playbook was reigned in.  WC clearly made effective adjustments (as were previously described in other posts), but, at no did I, or anyone else watching the second half of today's game, get the sense that the Cardinals needed to change their limited offensive scheme because the Thunder/Crusaders were going to come back and score 21 points in the 3rd or 4th quarters.

As for the comments about NCC's overall offense, I did note that they do not have Kniss or Fanthorpe at QB, but the last time I checked, they were averaging 425 yards per game on offense, including 212 on the ground and through the air.  While it would be ludicrous for anyone to expect those types of numbers against better defenses (like WC's), it is possible for teams to win with above average offenses, very good defenses, and very good special teams.

Please don't mistake my comments, and believe that I have cardinal-colored glasses on as I do agree that NCC will have a very difficult time with the two teams at the top of the D3 rankings, but I do think that they have enough talent to compete with most other teams below that level, even with an offense that is not scoring 49 points per game!

To the victors go the spoils. To all you NCC fans that have retained your class I applaud you and your team. The better team won today. Plain and simple. Would it have made a difference if Roberts had played? Of course it would have. But he didn't and the Thunder had it handed to them in half #1 and couldn't get in the endzone when they had the chance to make it a game int he second half. Credit the NCC defense for making plays.

As far as NCC against the big boys, their defense can compete with anyone. Wheaton did a great job on Hayes, Clendenning and Garza today. MEador had all day to throw the ball but many times there was no where to throw it. I think 50 yds offense is not very good in the second half and NCC will have to be more productive in the playoffs on offense. Llavac will certainly make a difference, he is a great receiver. I don't know if Crackel is better than Stanek. Personally I would have rather have faced Crackel because Stanek is much more mobile and hurt Wheaton with his feet today.

UWW can put up points on any defense (the winning stagg bowl team hasn't scored less than 30 in any of the last 5 years) so the NCC offense will have to be more productive because thinking they are going to beat either of the big 2 with what we saw today is a stretch.

Again, congrats to NCC as they deserved the win today.

For many years, Wheaton has had a swagger. On the field. On this board. Wheaton earned that swagger. Even at halftime, many of their fans today were talking about how they are a second half team and would rally to win.

Except, NCC has won at least a share of the CCIW title for 5 years. NCC should have that same swagger now. The program was come a long way since 2006 - when NCC won a share of the conference title.

The viewpoints that you find nauseating, those are similar to what supporters of other schools have had to read from Wheaton supporters.

This is the biggest load of crap I have read on here all year.

I watched the game. 254 yrds to 49 in a half is dominating and not even remotely close. 50 yds to 150 in the second half is almost equally absurd. The biggest difference is NCC turned their yds into points and Wheaton did not, which is all that matters.
