Pat- on the main page your poll is which item is most surprising?   I am surprised you didn't have Elmhurst beating Augie for the first time in 31 years.

Jaybird: Take a close look at the four options in the poll and see what they all have in common.

At least it won't be the SAME discussion as 3-4 years ago!  IF there is a top 4/bottom 4 (I don't think there is), NCC is now solidly top 4, IWU is back where they belong in top 4, and Millikin has (hopefully, for this 60s Titan), been forever banished to the basement! :D

Augie and Carthage (and, apparently, Elmhurst :o) can battle it out for the fourth spot in the top 4 (IF such a divide exists, which I no longer think it does).

Here's to all the seniors and their parents who will be playing/watching their last D3 game this weekend.  Make the most of it and don't take anything for granted as all that will be left are memories.

Few outsiders realize the sacrifice, commitment and lifelong relationships that are built over these student athletes 4 year football experience.  To them and their families....it was everything!  Play hard and have fun!

Second that. It is such an emotional day. I remember feeling the same emotions when my son played his last home game in high school. It was one of those happy/sad days-especially since the loss came in the state semi's. Good luck to all the seniors-thanks for your leadership this season. You have made a lasting impression on the underclassmen.

Very well stated.  I just can't believe it is the final week in the regular season already.

+K, great point. I agree with Mugsy in saying that I cannot believe the regular season is coming to an end. This is the last group of 5th year seniors playing that I would know from my playing days. Do I count as being old now?

You're not old until there are sons of guys you played football with who are now on the team.  This year is the 1st year where there are players on the Wheaton team who have very familiar last names, because I played football with their dads.  Ouch!    :o

According to former Richards High School  Football coach Gary Korhonen, you know you're getting old when the grandsons of former players introduce themselves to you on the first day of practice. :D

All I was getting at is that it was a shocker and something that hasn't happened in a long time.

I for one am/was shocked, as you see on the pick em's I had Augie winning.
