On a totally different note.  Looking at the way they imported soccer players from Scandinavia  (look at the First team CCIW players  http://cciw.org/news/2010/11/9/MS_1109105908.aspx ) its too bad American Football hasn't caught on as well over there.
Maybe the Parkers can start a hockey team.  That's another sport that their Swedish connection can help them out in.

Hockey is much too expensive a sport for NPU's modest athletic budget, and the nearest rink to campus is the Chicago Park District's McFetridge Sports Center, which is two and a half miles away. We won't be seeing a North Park hockey team for either gender anytime soon.

However, there is another sport at which Swedes are adept: Golf. Six of the twelve members of the NPU men's golf team are Swedes, all of whom (along with the team's top American) are freshmen. That's an unprecedented influx of the sons of Svea among North Park's linksters, as I don't think the Vikings have had Swedes on the golf team before, or at least not that many all at once. They appear to be pretty good golfers, as you can see here.

NPU men's golf coach Paul Brenegan jokes about holding an intrasquad Ryder Cup match between his six Americans and his six Swedes.

Front page of the MSNBC website has a link to an article on the 117 year old rivalry between Randolph-Macon and Hampden-Sydney.

Great look at D3 Football and emphasis beyond just the playing field.  Several good quotes from RM's head coach (Pedro Arruza - Wheaton football alum).

Interesting projected bracket on front page has NCC v Trine an @ UWW in rd 2. Also has Wheaton hosting bethel w winner to play St Thomas in round 2.

USee -- let me fix that second round matchup. My bad.

That can"t be right. The number one and number two seed should not meet in round two. They shouldn't meet until the quarters at best.  Why aren't Wheaton and NC in the same regional?

Much less intense than the NC/Wheaton LBBell game,  but when I was playing at Elmhurst Carthage was our top arch rival.   That was the game we circled as a must win game.  Carthage stopped our winning streak at home last year.

What if MU beats Wheaton? Does the CCIW still get two in?

If we go with the convention of moving UWW to the north, we need two teams to go to the west. Who are they if one is not Wheaton or NCC?

Remember you must move teams that are within 500 miles of St. Thomas.

Well since Wheaton and NC are within 7 miles of each other and NC just beat Wheaton soundly, while also easily beating teams Wheaton struggled with, NC and Wheaton should switch brackets. There is no way Wheaton should draw Benedictine in round one and be in that bracket while the number one team in the conference and the number two team in the region(also ranked ahead of Wheaton) is on course for a round two match-up with UWW. It's almost like NC is being punished for going undefeated in the regular season. And yes, while I stated that the road to the top goes through UWW and MTU, NC shouldn't be facing either of them until the semi's and finals. Where is the logic to any of these pairings?

If D3's bracket ends up being right, and I assume it will be in regards to MTU and UWW, I'd be really pissed if I was a NCC player, coach or fan.  They get rid of Mount in a year the Raiders are susceptible and get Whitewater again.  Nice.

Plus, I still don't know what makes St Thomas a stronger #1 seed than North Central.  IMHO, Whitewater should stay in the West, North Central should hold down the North and Mount should prop up the East.  The top of my preferred brackets would be:

WEST
1 - Whitewater
2 - St Thomas
3 - Wartburg
4 - Cal Lutheran

NORTH
1 - North Central
2 - Wheaton or Ohio Northern
3 - Wheaton or Ohio Northern
4 - Trine

EAST
1 - Mount Union
2 - Delaware Valley
3 - Rowan
4 - Cortland State

SOUTH
1 - Wesley
2 - Mary Hardin Baylor
3 - DePauw
4 - Thomas More

As I stated once already, I have made the change to correct that in the bracket.

Depending on the outcomes of tomorrows games there is a chance that several CCIW schools will have wins over teams in the playoff field:

North Park over Benedictine
Carthage over Franklin
Wheaton over Albion
Elmhurst over Chicago

Yeah and Mount Union gets a cake walk into the Quarterfinals.

For the CCIW finale some interesting matchups. My spreads for the week:

NCC v NPU (+55.5)
Millikin v Wheaton (-15.5)
Carthage v Elmhurst (-14.5)
Augie V IWU (Pickem)

I think the Wheaton game may be a lot closer than anyone thinks, especially of Jordan Roberts doesn't play. The Augie, IWU games is going to be a great battle and I expect Elmhurst to handle Carthage farily handily in Kenosha. Any takers on the NCC/NPU spread??
