Okay, so what do you all really think NCC's chances are against UWW next week?

Depends upon how many Wisconsin Stomping Monkeys (Alouatta lombardii) the Warhawks bring with them on the bus, I guess.

Well, NCC hasn't played anybody good yet so not much of a chance. :)

We're all hoping that UWW guys will autograph some of our footballs after the game.  Think how exciting it will be to play the 2011 season using footballs autographed by UWW players!  We'll be the envy of the entire CCIW.

Mugsy,

What happened to Wheaton today? Good win by NCC, on to the next higher ranked opponent that Wheaton didn't have to play!!!

??????

Not sure where this is going.  St. Norbert's wasn't exactly a very tough game for us.  Coe and Bethel are both better than St. Norberts.  Ohio Northern is better than Bethel IMO, but who really cares.  NCC took care of what they could take care of and now get an opportunity to play the #1 team in the country at our stadium!!

USee's comments pretty much cover it.  Roberts fumble on the 1st drive of the 3rd quarter, Tyler Langs muffed punt return and an extremely well setup throwback play to Logan Flannery off of a formation and play series used several times through out the game for a 27 yard TD with 1:37 left spelled Wheaton's doom.

Wheaton continued to incur too many silly penalties at horrible times.  4 false start penalties in the 1st half - I'd expect that in the 1st game of the year, but game 12?

Bethel is a very, very solid, physical team.  Logan Flannery sets the tone with his very tough running.  The Bethel front 7 on defense are rock solid and their safeties fly to the ball and will knock your head off.  Very, very sound tackling team.  To say I'm impressed would be an understatement.

That said, Wheaton was a play or 2 away from pulling out a victory despite being statistically dominanted in many categories.

The tone of your post I'm choosing to ignore based on my respect for virtually ever other NCC poster on this board.

Hey, I wasn't trying or intending to start a controversy, or for that matter, trying to be a smart-aleck ;) ;D.  Obiously, I know the NCC supporters here think their team will do well and are confident, however, I was just seriously asking what everyone thought the chances were for NCC next week against UWW.  Many people didn't think Trine would have much of a chance, however, they came close and much more so than did Franklin.  So I wasn't trying to incite an arguement nor even one over "who did better against who" etc. ;D.  Certainly, we all know that it also can depend on how teams are playing at this particular time in the playoffs to some degree.  I can't imagine it won't be a good game.

I honestly think they have a decent chance (not a great chance, but a decent chance).

Franklin went toe-to-toe for a half.  Trine went toe-to-toe for 3 quarters.  I think NCC may go toe-to-toe for 4 quarters, in which case anything can happen.  (Since NCC seems to have less of a passing game than either of UWW's other conquests, and since their seasons are over, could NCC borrow Ray and/or Watt?! ;D)

I want to pass on my sincere congrats to the entire Wheaton coaching staff and players.  An outstanding season.

At the start of the season, I would not have envisioned a 10-2 season given some of the question marks (apparently only in my mind).

You lived by slogan for the year to finish strong.  4 amazing (and somewhat improbable) comebacks.  You never, ever gave up despite what you faced.  Something you all should be proud of.  I know I am as an alum.

Mr. Flynn

I think NCC has a good solution for Coppage.  Brent Donley met him several times today, though I doubt he remembers it. :o  NCC will be able to hold their own, should be a good game.

North central has the defense and the players to beat anybody. They are playing at a high level. I have questioned their offense but they get it done every week. Do I think NCC can slay the dragon? Definitely. Do I think they will win? I wouldn't bet on it (bleed purple offered uww and points last week for this game!) but this is the matchup everyone wanted to see.

Mugsy - thank you, but I'd be remiss if I didn't say something myself.
NCC Tailgater - no need to act like a douche and make the college seem classless. If you had any concept of D3 football whatsoever, you'd have wanted Wheaton to do well because 1. They are also representing the CCIW, which, I assume, you wouldn't mind getting some national acclaim with 2 teams making it as deep as possible in the playoffs and 2. They aren't even on our side of the bracket. Grow up.

While UWW doesn't seem to be burying teams as it had in the past, there's a common opponent: UW-EC.

NCC beat them 20-6 at home, UWW won 45-0 on the road.

How much it will mean come next Saturday is anyone's guess, of course.
