Leipold:

Has never coached a high school team

College record 4 seasons
53-3  94.6% wining percentage
4 WIAC conference championships
4 Playoff appearances
2 National championship runners up
2 National championships
Nations longest winning streak in all divisions

Not as long of tenure as Coach Thorne but not a bad start none the less  ;)

:o Uh, uhhh, yeah, I got nothin.....very impressive!

Only 1 national championship runner up, unless you are figuring we'll be runner up this year also  ;)

pretty sick.
Pretty sick, indeed. And, please don't take this as a knock at all on Leipold, but he inherited an already GREAT program. Thorne took over a 3-7 team and made them what they are in a hurry.

Neither coach has anything on Ditka.   :)

Mr. Ypsi

Every so often I remind the Mount Union guys (and I may have to start on UWW pretty soon :P) that with all the glory of UMU's run, there is still one thing Augie did that they haven't done - FOUR straight national titles! ;D  Since they also have lately been throwing their 55 and 54 game winning streaks in UWW's face (who are so far only( ;)) at 27, I'll have to go remind them that Augie won SIXTY in a row. 8-)

Of course, I take a karma hit every time I do it, but it's worth it! ;D

Those are all very impressive records.

Hmmm....let's see....

Ok....my work here is done.   ;)

That is either Kehres record........or....Is that what you Northeastern Ohio Fans are hoping Manginis record will be in 20 years?   Good luck with that :)

Actually, it was a 60-game unbeaten streak. They had that pesky tie in there in '86. But the four straight titles is unmatched at any level of NCAA football.

Here's something to ponder (and please don't take this as a knock on Thorne, who's done a tremendous job at NCC):
If North Central went undefeated in the CCIW for the next nine seasons Thorne would still trail The Bob Reade in conference winning percentage.

Heyyyy......don't diss Mangenius.......we "almost" won a bunch of close games this year.  According to some......the Browns are much improved.  Sigh........

I'm still looking for bulletin board material against NCC.  Even after an exhaustive search, the best I came up with is they had a bed bug (just one though) on campus last year.

I'll find it yet.

One more plug for Coach Thorne.  He left the high school program in great shape as well, they won another championship last weekend-their third in five years.  I believe the current head coach was the defensive coordinator under Coach Thorne.

He is the reason I fear NCC.

OOPS on the winning streak. :-[  I'd have to double-check on UMU, but I think the unbeaten streak would still work! :D

I noticed on the Augie site that you have a winning record against every CCIW team EXCEPT IWU.  Unless you can keep beating us on a regular basis, I think we are safe for at least another decade. ;)  It may be a close race whether we stay the only team ahead of you (Wheaton is catching up), or whether you can have a clean sweep.  But I'm gonna be optimistic and say we start beating you again.

There's no doubt about that. They will also continue to make room for Coppage.  The advantage UW-W has on the line of scrimmage is usually quite decisive.  NCC has some great athletes on defense, but I've not seen a defensive line hold up for 4 quarters against UW-W in five years. And that INCLUDES Mt. Union.  Throw in the best running back in the country and that's a challenge for ANY defense!  ;D
Relax.
Your eyelids are getting heavy.
You are feeling very sleepy now.
Relax.
Now, listen to what I have to say and know it as the truth.

North Central cannot run the ball.
North Central cannot pass the ball.
North Central's offensive line will not be able to make any running lanes against the stout Whitewater defensive front.
North Central's defense is weak.
North Central's defensive line will not get any pressure on Blanchard.
North Central does not have a DPOY candidate waiting to provide a friendly greeting to Mr. Coppage.
North Central will not be able to stop the mighty Whitewater passing game.
North Central has only played against 0-10 teams this year.

Keep telling yourself, "The CCIW is weak.  North Central is not a good team."

Go to your happy place.

There.  Now, don't you feel better.

The clincher on Reade---why he gets the tip of the hat over the others.........

drumroll please.........

He was able to accomplish all this while raising 11 children!

Now will Augie return to its offensive roots---you can still run the offense from shotgun if you like--ask Greg King---bring back the Double Dive/Inside Belly!
