I'll say this (which is a statement about ncc and not a comparison to uww)the CCIW is a tough conference. This is the second time a team has  made it to the playoffs undefeated in the last 14 yrs. And you have to go back to Augie in the 80s to find a team tat has run the cciw slate by beating every team by at least 20. Wheaton this year, which we have seen is a very good team and quite comparable to teams in the west bracket, is your typical cciw team. Several close games through conference play, a few come from behind V's, solid defense, etc.  That's the team most would expect from the cciw. NCC is a level above that. We don't know if its UWW/UMU level, but its probably pretty close in my view. We get to find out Saturday.

See, you really are a "naperville red bird" fan this week. Although we know once the season is over, you'll begin  evaluating the 2011 version of  that orange and blue team. Here's hoping they play NC WITH a healthy Roberts next year. The crazy thing about NC is that they will just reload next year with a huge returning contingent on both sides of the ball.

U See, this is a great observation and if I can add one other thought to that. Until this coming week, ONU included, I've never been concerned that we were going to win the game. Maybe it's knowing Wenger and crew are out there on D and they bring a certain maturity/swagger with them on the field. Not cocky swagger but confident type. IMO this wasn't the same feeling we've had in the stands the last 3 years.

Enjoy the ride, it should be like this for at least the next two years. :D

Always.A.Titan

Well, after reading the board for a long time, I figured now is as good as ever to join in. I think the world could always use some more green tinted glasses, especially to compliment all of the new red that is posting during this holiday season.

I am hoping for a great game in Naperville this Saturday and as much as I like the CCIW and root for the conference to have post-season success, I am leaning towards the Warhawks on Saturday. Having played against both teams recently, I don't know if NCC can put together a perfect, turnover-less and avoidable penatly-less 60 minutes (and then some if needed) to beat UWW.

As for my resume (which is obviously important),   ;) - 12 years of playing and a Bachelor's degree from the finest instiution in Bloomington is all I have  ;D

Pretty good observations.  However, this is a new (kind of) NCC defense.  The offensive line has been re-tooled and the offense has put up better numbers than the last two years.  Factor in the fact that NCC has played UW-W only 3 years ago and it makes for a hell of game.  I'm sure that Thorne and Company have stressed the need for a penalty-less game.  There are also no distractions (for either team) like finals or Thanksgiving break.  I'm excited.  I see my Cards putting on their game face and giving the team from up north a run for their money, possibly pulling out a victory.

Unfortunately I will be missing the first half of the game as I have a wrestling tournament that I'm coaching.  I'm quite upset.

First time poster--please be gentle with me.

I had the (mis)fortune of facing Coach Reade's teams four times in my playing days at NCC (and contributed to the unbeaten streak!).  Two things we always knew going in.  One, they rarely, if ever, made a mistake (a sign of great coaching).  By the same token, they jumped all  over your mistakes.

And, second, when you played them you better put on every pad that you owned.

It is difficult to compare the greatness of coaches and players from different eras, but Coach Reade will always be in the conversation.

Welcome!!  You can never have enough Cardinals!   ;D

Seriously?   :-\

I remember when the only Cardinal fans posting on here were Cardalum and myself.  The rest of Cardinal Nation are bandwagon fans!  :)

Did it feel good to write that?  Or was it a little painful?  Did you have to take a shower after posting that?

Come to the Darkside, USee...its the only way.

Wow.  A number of new posters recently.  AWESOME!  About time for some fresh perspective.

Welcome aboard.  Your credentials allow you free reign here, except for disagreeing with anyone with more that 1000 posts.   ;D  Just kidding...

We now have another IWU fan with which to gauge reality, as opposed to what Mr. Ypsi gives us.   :P

I would say Titan Q is a pretty serious realist, but always need some green to help wash out all the red on here (now that is painful to say).

Washdup- I speak the truth in love my brother. It did feel a little like a confession though.

Very true and thought about that as I posted.  It was more a point of jest towards Mr. Ypsi.   ;D

Always.A.Titan, as to Mugsy's crack about posts, you and I together have more posts than Mugsy and USee together, so I guess they have to defer to US! ;D

Mugsy, I've gotten a lot more realistic recently.  This year the Titans won the 7 I expected them to, and lost the 3 I feared (though I had strong hope against Augie).

There's that, or the fact that a few played a few years ago and are now feeling it is appropriate to begin to post about the team they once played for.  Some people get involved too soon and make irrational arguments FOR their team, and then end up losing karma.  I'm more removed from the team than I once was, and I didn't want to be that guy... you know the one...
