Thank you Mugsy for the breakdown. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

Always nice to receive credit for something I didn't do, but alas I can't take credit.  It was USee's work.

I do agree on the sentiment, misplaced as it may be...   ;)

Fixed!

If I am not mistaken Garza might have another year.  He went to Iowa and he was a walk on there, but he transferred out.  I am assuming there is a possibility he could petition for another year.

I thought he might also, if so that would be great!

That would indeed be great news. I know Wenger was pretty highly regarded out of high school (he was a stud at Dakota). Any idea of the pedigree of his possible replacement?

Several players will be petitioning for a 5th year, which would change Usee's great preview for 2011.

Wenger's replacement may not be on campus yet.

I have a pretty good idea of pedigree = not as good. ;)

Ugh,  this loss to UWW won't sit well for a while.   When you look at the turnovers that ultimately led to NCC losing this game, you have to give credit where it is due.  UWW's forced fumbled was a good play by them.  They pass that was tipped at the line of scrimmage and then picked off by the same guy was a good play by them.  The tipped pass to our TE was well defended...its just really frustrating to have a team of NCC's caliber with the talent to get to the title game (and represent the CCIW) come up short.

Usee, although we would love to have Hlavac back, he is a senior and unless I am somehow wrong, I dont think he will be back next year. (Tassio will be though, along with Kukoc)

Wenger was special and will be missed, not only by his coaches and players but by the many alumni and fans of NCC.  I have to agree that you dont see the speed, explosiveness, hitting ability and instincts of a Matt Wenger come along often (and if you do, they are most likely playing at a bigger school)  Best of luck to him in the next 6-8 months as he prepares to try and get into a camp and give us posters another player to follow.

All the Seniors will be missed.  If you are a North Central senior and follow the D3 boards, thanks for all of your efforts this season and in the last 4 years.  We really enjoyed watching you play.

I believe Ittersagen is waiting for a call and may be signed back by the Titans to the practice squard as early as this week, but nothing is definite in the NFL.  It is a waiting game that we all would love to play.

Formercard, I appreciate you giving credit where it is due. It was a great football game. NCC is definitely a very good team and a great program.

I fully admit we (UW-W fans) were the ones doing most of the "trashing" of the National Committee for the seedings, but in retrospect, it probably wasn't fair to NCC either. I agree that they should be still playing.  Many reasonable people felt the committee should have found a way to make NCC and St. Thomas  #1 and #2 in the same region and then make UW, Mount Union, and Wesley/UMHB the other three #1's. I know it's too late to matter, and maybe it's just my way of taking one last shot at the committee, but it just didn't have to turn out this way.  I have a feeling UW-W and NCC will be seeing more of each other.   ;)

Can anyone indicate which of the above would have a legitimate shot at petitioning for a 5th year?  (Even better would be if anyone has inside info on whether or not they actually would want to.)

(And, of course, the same goes for info on seniors at any other school.)

Well, unfortunately, the "ax just dropped" on DIII'er Josh McDaniels as the Denver Broncos owner fired him as head coach - breaking news just now on Comcast and other sports outlets.

and it looks like another Division 3 guy,  UWW grad Eric Studesville takes on the interim head coaching job.  I am assuming he graduated from there as his college is listed as Whitewater.

Sorry about Hlavac. I had it down wrong but should have remembered his freshman year when he beat Franklin on the last play!

As far as coming back I know these guys definitely played 4 yrs of football:

Hicks, schneiderbauer, sulo, hogan, wenger, grunwald, schaub, antos, borczak, McGinnis

The possibles are:
Kane Thompson, onlybplayed 2 games in 09
Fiedorowicz, only played 3 yrs
Wild, only played 3 yrs
Garza, 3 yrs at NCC, no clue what he did at COD or other prior to NCC

These are all impact players to varying degrees so any of them who return makes NCC that much stronger.

I also appreciate your giving credit where credit is due and I want to return the favor.  In the world of D-3, Saturday was a big stage and the Cards proved that they belonged, for sure.  My biggest complaint was actually not as much with the #1 and #2 in the North Region as it was with the ranking of the North Region #4 with both of us in it!!!! ??? ::) With the competitiveness of that game, it sure makes the committee's choice to send either of us on the road next weekend look even more silly, IMHO.

Agreed.  You have a good team up there in Whitewater.  Good luck against Wesley on Saturday.
