Actually, I am not very happy that either of them played for "the red and white"  :'(

Hahaha, I'm ecstatic that they played for the red and white! Playing with both of them, I would have to say that they are very similar players. No one is clearly above the other.

Let's hope that we get someone as good as both of those guys to step up and fill in at Mike for NCC.

Agreed!

My dream is to see a USee quote next year saying "where do you NCC guys keep finding these stud MLBs?" after NCC rolls Wheaton for another CCIW title  ;D
You win! You always do!

Not sure why you guys are comparing these two.  They were both great players, both helped NC to conference titles, and why not just leave it at that?

Who's going to be able to take down NC and when?  This is eerily reminscent of the dynasties of yesterday i.e. WC in the 50's Car in the 70's and Augie in the 80's.

Do you think the new Augie coach is going to keep the current system and/or try to go back to a run first wing-T style?

happy new year to all.  Hope 2011 brings you much success.

NC is good, but no comparison to Augie in the 80's.  Yes they have been CCIW champs 5 years in a row, but in 3 of those years, they were co-champs and they have yet to get past the quarterfinals in the playoffs.  Some great accomplishments for sure, but not even close to the same league as what we did at Augie in the 80's.

Seriously doubt that Augie will revert back to any type of run first offense.  The OC they just hired seems to come from a school that ran a spread offense and he was the receivers coach.

Inquiring minds want to know... will they institute the use of the drop kick as a major part of their arsenal.

Darn.....  You guessed it.  That was the secret weapon that was going to get us back on top of the CCIW next year.  ;)

Lenny and Matt were both products of Coach Wienke. He always produced great backers. We will see where we go from here..........................

Very good point, Cardinaldad. Coach Wienke was able to turn gold into platinum. He is a very good coach. I'm sure that NCC, just as they do with players, will reload at the coaching position. There wasn't much of a difference in linebacker play, IMO. Ponx did a great job with the defense this year. He moved around personelle to maximize the playmaking ability of each player (notice they went back to a 4-3 base... Which Wienke ran quite effectively). I'm excited tonsee what the Cards will do next year.

Well... In college they were Playing different positions! Haha, I am just saying that Wienke is an awesome coach with a phenomenal ability to relate to his players.

I posted this over on the MIAA and OAC boards, but thought I would do it here so you don't have to "scour" around over there! ;D

Well, there you have it.  Just reported that Jim Harbaugh has agreed to a 25 million dollar 5-year contract to be the Head Coach of the 49'ers of the NFL.  While most of us knew he wouldn't come back to Michigan, still I'm slightly disappointed he didn't stay then at Stanford as I think he had a chance at potentially becoming one of the great college coaches in this era if he had stayed at the collegiate level and really get Stanford to being even better than they are now.  However, I certainly understand the $ (although he really doesn't need it and Stanford had offered a VERY good $ deal without question), the chance to be a head NFL coach like his brother and the challenge of trying to bring back SF to prominence.  Yet, SF has not been exactly a hotbed for it's last several head coaches - Murriuci, Erickson, Nolan, Singletary couldn't turn them around and got fired; and the way the NFL is, that will probably happen to Harbaugh.  But...he has played in the NFL and thus, knows the mentality of those type of players.  The trick will be to see if he can get them to follow him.  Much, much different than working with college age players.  Nonetheless, I wish him the best.  Won't it be neat to see the Baltimore/SF games?  A great but rare experience for them and the fans.
