This should help the quality of officiating and reduce costs.

Has anyone heard on how the hunt for the new defensive coordinator is going at Carthage?  They have been with out since December and I am hoping that it does not hurt recruiting on that side of the ball.

I really hate answering my own question.  Carthage has found their new D-coordinator, Mike Yeager.  He has been on Indiana's staff for the last 5 years and he was at the College of Wooster before that.

Here is the link from the Carthage web site:  http://athletics.carthage.edu/news/2011/2/8/Football_0208110548.aspx

HoosierRedMan:

That is a great hire for Carthage.  I have a question, however, and I don't intend this as a negative, but rather am just curious.  Why would a coach like Yeager, after having played at DI Miami of Ohio and also coached in the Big Ten at Indiana for a lengthy time, (even though he coached at DIII Wooster) want to return to a DIII school? ??? (family considerations??)  Seems like that would be quite a drop in salary.  Just curious.  Thanks.

Yes, I agree this is a great hire.  The Carthage D has been at the bottom of the conference for the last couple of years and I am looking for improvement on that side of the ball this fall.

I really can't say why he applied for the job, except that when IU made their coaching change he was out of a job.  He has been an assistant in his previous jobs and I believe this will be his first coordinators job.  I wish him well.

NCC has released its 2011 schedule. Currently, just 9 games scheduled. As announced previously, they open at Redlands.

Apologies, Pat.  I usually check D3 football pretty often during the season, but I got so excited when I saw the video on Yahoo that, remembering Mugsy's post,  I jumped right to D3boards and posted it without checking the home page.  I didn't know it was there.

Reason? ???  I assume that a press release/official public announcement will be made later today.
