Tyler Dicken from Bloomington HS in IL, most notably (the latter's first cousin is former Purdue QB Billy Dicken).

You mean IWU Offensive Coordinator Billy Dicken.

Interestingly enough, Dicken has been at IWU for years of recruiting for both Andy Dicken (Millikin) and now Tyler Dicken (NCC). You would think IWU could keep some guys south of I-80 instead of pillaging the Chicago area talent.

Interesting. I saw Billy play in college a few times when he was at PU. He, Alstott, and Alford made for quite an offensive trio.
You win! You always do!

I am excited that this board stuff is picking up again. Makes the work day that much better!

I couldn't agree more.  K+

ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF THE 2011 TOP 25 FAN POLL, PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE WITH YOUR CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS. Now that Kickoff is out, I'd like to get our first poll out by the middle of next week.

Kickoff makes you realize how nationally respected the CCIW is.  Many mentions in the feature stories of games vs. Wheaton, NCC and even NPU.  Rankings reflect that as well.

Interesting side note: Since the time I attended Wheaton as a student and the present (20+ years), I have NEVER heard of the "Mastodon March".

QuoteWheaton College's annual Mastodon March is one of the College's most established Student Orientation traditions.

Huh?

Longtime lurker, registering to say:

I can second that, and I graduated in 2003.  This "most established" of traditions can't be more than eight years old.

I was looking at some you tube videos of Wheaton Freshmen.  I was very impressed with Luke Thorsons (FR 6'6" 186lbs) hands.  Every catch seems to be a play of the week.  Not sure of his speed.   Jordon Roberts needs some tall guys to throw to with his throwing style.  I hope one of the two tall Wide receivers gets some playing time.  The other being Mark Hiben (FR 6'4" 197lbs)

Luke Thorson #8

Look at any of the other games on you tube and you will see what I mean.

Luke is the son of Chad Thorson, 2 or 3 time All-American MLB for Wheaton in 87-90'.  Chad played in the Senior Bowl in 90', signed a free agent contract with the Giant's and play a year or two for the Birmingham Fire.  Chad was the last player cut from the 90' Giants.  The other LB's on that Giant's team were familar to most people who watch the NFL - Lawerence Taylor, Harry Carson, and Carl Banks.  Not a bad core of linebackers, and Chad almost made the team.  I'm sure CardinalAlum can share how much fun it was to block Chad.

Luke's older brother, Hunter, will likely see reasonable time at TE this season (6'6" 240lbs).  Look for both Thorson's to make a serious impact for Wheaton during the next 3-4 years.  They are both taller than their father and will likely be bigger as well - Chad was a very big MLB (6'2" 250lbs).  Btw... Chad had a 40 time somewhere between 4.5 and 4.6, so Luke and Hunter have the genetics for size and speed.

Mark Hiben played on some very, very good Glenbard West football teams (state champion and runner-up).  Look for him to be a player.

Wheaton has another freshman TE who is 6'6" or 6'7".  I don't recall a taller team at Wheaton.  That many tall receivers could create some serious match-up challenges for CCIW defenses.

Anyone know how NC looked the other day in their scrimmage against Aurora?

It was a scrimmage against Aurora, right...I hope that means NCC looked unbeatable.  ;D

For those who are interested there is a CCIW FB Pickem contest again this year. Remember there is a separate sign in board for the Pickems. Augie opens their season Thursday, so post your picks before then.

I went over and spent about the first hour of the Elmhurst vs Lakeland Scrimmage. The Blue Jays look really good this. They were playing a lot of young guys and holding out some key contributors just for normal camp bumps and bruises type of things. Big Athletic OLine in which all played last year and 4 started. Defensively it was interesting to see some new wrinkles they are putting in with some great your LB's they have to replace Randy Wright and others. Offensively they were moving the ball well and defensively they did not give up a point while I was there. I was surprised by some of the athletes Lakeland had. They reminded me a lot of a carthage team. A lot of guys and real good athletes. It should be a fun year this year for the Fighting Blue Birds.

Love Me Some Negative Karma!

It appears Pete Ittersagen has survived the cut down to 80 players for the Titans.  Obviously Andy Studebaker has as well on the Chiefs.

Son of Tailgater

I'm back from the hibernation! Looking forward to some of the new non-conference matches this weekend. My focus has been on my youth team and high school football lately so I will try to update everyone on some Carthage news as soon as I can.
