Yes Happy First Day of CFB to you all. I am looking forward to talking real football on here with our great conference.

I am not a fan of Augie's uniforms or their logo. It could just be the deep down hatred I have for that school (hate used in a fun way). While I played at EC my best friend went to Augie and being on the wrong side of a one way rivalry made my distain grow. I personally think they should come out with powder pink outfits because it would give me something to yell at my friend about. It might give me a little pay back from all the times I visited him at school and would get harassed by their team.

Here is hoping this year we run the winning streak to 2 well on our way to a 40 year win streak to get the series evened up.

When I see their helmets, I think of success and championships.

When I see their helmets, I think yellow is a bad color and makes them look unattractive  ;D

Maybe yellow is a bit unatttactive.  But, I had the misfortune of contributing to three of their undefeated National Championship seasons, so it left a tiny impression on me.

I see Augie is going to be unveiling a new logo?  Why?  I think longstanding, traditional logos are great.  Look at the Bears and Packers.  A simple C or G is recognizable, and the "less is more" approach is better.

Great story on Jenkins AAT.  I remember watching him prior to his injury and thought if he stayed healthy, he would be a beast.

I hope Augie isn't going to change their logo.  I love the tradition, and what  it represents.  When I see their helmets, I think of success and championships.

While this may be true, most 17 yr old kids care more about how cool the uniforms are and less about what a team did in the 1980's before he was born (and subsequently what the uniforms looked like then).

I agree and disagree. Kids do care about how cool they are (Oregon and Nike), but there is also a lot to be said for plain, traditional unis (Penn State). This might be the Big 10 Midwest in me, but I think Penn State has one of the top 5 jerseys in the ncaa.

According to a source with the Naperville Police Dept., the NPD is investigating a fire that occurred in Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium last Saturday night between 11:00 and 11:30, and caused $10,000 worth of damage to the new artificial turf surface. The fire, which has now been officially classified as an arson, appears to have been set in 2 different spots with a flare.
The Naperville Crime Stoppers organization is offering a $1,000 reward. Information can be reported anonymously by calling 630-420-6006.

That is not cool.  I just don't get people sometimes.

Those of you (like me) who have played the game, know that football is a game of tradition, brotherhood, and in a sense, respecting your previous school's squads.  I think traditional logos, traditions, etc. are meaningful so for my 2 cents, that is my soapbox spiel.

Classless move by the guilty person(s) who would do that in Naperville.  Probably some punk who has no ties/knowledge of NC,  with nothing better to do, but to be deviant.

You are correct about Penn St and Michigan, but there is a difference (I believe, at least) between a nationally known D1 power who's tradition has been splashed all acrossed TVs for decades and D3 powers.

And I hope whoever screwed with the NCC field gets caught. Just stupid. Why would you do something like that? Any of my NCC people get a look at the damage? $10K doesnt sounds like a lot (in terms of size of the damaged area) considering the cost of the whole field, but it sure could be an eyesore in the endzone.

I think that it comes down to whether you are established with a rich tradition (i.e. Penn State, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, Nebraska etc.) or whether you are trying to build one like Oregon, Boise State or Nevada (Associate Head Coach Ken Wilson, a NCC former player and alum).

I hope the security cameras will prove to be useful at B-W.

Found this article...it is pretty applicable to our jersey discussion. Good read. I enjoy the Grantland website.

Jaybird:

Although I agree with you that tradition is important my two cents are that it is less about logo's and what is on the helmet and more about what you represent as a person on and off the field representing your school. I would much rather have a great group of kids at EC winning ball games then a bunch of jerks who are winning or losing. What you wear or the logo I could care less about. Looks evolve and from the days of those little numbers on the sides of Elmhurst's helmets compared to now, in my opinion it is a better look. Maybe not be for everyone but I like the changes.
