Look at all the activity. I am excited for this weekend's game in Bloomington.

A few points to hit on to start off Monday morning...

The Bears looked like a real NFL team (that was weird to watch).
I don't think NCC has faced a defense as good as IWU's to this point.
I don't think NCC has faced a receiving corps as good as IWU's to this point, which helps out Gallik in the battle of underclassmen qbs.
IWU has a very fast and hard hitting defense, they will match your team speed. I think they will be ready for the rushing attack of NCC. They have a talented and experienced secondary which allows them to focus their front 7 on the run game.

Question for the board...who gets the special teams edge? IWU's kicking game has finally come along and is now a strength. How does NCC's kicking/return game rate?

I am seeing lots of GREEN

Thoughtful and insightful posts above by Titan Q, newcardfan, USee, Mugsy, and IL Gator regarding the NCC/IWU game next Sat.

Among the points (some of which have been mentioned by the above posters) I think are noteworthy are:

*Game AT IWU--In my book home field is always, or should be, at least a small advantage.
*As a NCC fan I must say they suck in terms of the number of penalties taken. Thats OK if they're
playing a team they are going to score 60, 70, or 80 points against,  but not an IWU squad.
*Lets say the IWU rushing attack is limited either by ineptitude or injury. IWU QB Gallik is 2nd in the
conference in both total passing, and pass efficiency. And, Wesleyan is 1st in 3rd down conversion.
That says that in addition to the QB preforming well, the line is doing a good job of pass blocking,
and the receivers are both getting open and catching the ball.
*Have the Titans faced a rushing attack as potent and deep as that of NCC? The Cards have FOUR rushers
who average at least 6.8 yds per rush.
* I don't know how the Wesleyan team speed rates, but the NCC team is very fast. The DBs virtually fly to
the ball. I think IWU does the Cards a favor if they try to run outside and gain the corner or throw long
passes where the ball is in the air for a long time. NCC leads the league in total defense, sacks, interceptions,
and turnover margin.
*Despite a pass efficiency rating of 140, and a 58% completion rate, senior QB Brad Crackel was replaced in
the starting lineup 2 games ago by freshman Tyler Dicken. Dicken hasn't faced a power anywhere near as potent as IWU.
Additionally, if you look into the more subtile nuances, one wonders what the NCC upperclassmen think of this move.
Do they believe a virtually untested freshman is ready to lead them to victory in a game against a tough opponent
that may determine whether they appear in post-season play? If they have a problem, they better get over it quick.
*Field position is always an important aspect. I suspect that it will take on even more importance that usual in this
particular game. Of course, punting and punt coverage play a huge part in your team's starting field position.
*Could this game be decided by a field goal?

Great post. To add fuel to the fire- the qb situation has a little odor to it. Something doesn't seem quite right.Just happened to sit by senior parents Saturday and they were a very opionated group. Very interesting. The NC upperclassmen don't have to like the move, but I don't think it will be a factor. If you look at last season, Crackel and Stanek were changed regularly when one of them did not perform up to par. I don't see Thorne throwing this season away on the arm of an untested freshman when he has a senior on the sidelines with quality experience. If the freshman doesn't get things going, look for Crackel to return.
Field position will be huge-NC offense/special teams cannot put the defense on a short field for the majority of the game. As good as the defense is, a short field with IWU's kicking game will be trouble.
If Kent returns this week, add another rusher into the mix.
Home field advantage -small factor. Good teams need to be able to win anywhere. No excuses here.
I'd like to see the NC defense add some blitzes this week :D
Penalties suck and we'll see how that will factor in this week's game >:(
I hope this game does not come down to a field goal.
BTW your comment on the NCAA-priceless ;D

The Bears look like an NFL team just often enough to keep us watching.
The activity on this board will make this week interesting.
I don't think IWU has faced a defense as good as NC's to this point
NC hasn't needed to rely on the receiving corp to score. If they can run the ball, control the clock and wear down the defense, they will do just that. They will throw just enough to keep the defense honest and on their toes.
This should be a battle of the defenses :D If they match NC's speed then the team with the fewest mental breakdown wins.

I am seeing even more RED

Here's to a great week on the board! Go Cardinals!

The Elmhurst/IWU game is a perfect example of why Elmhurst is not yet a top 3 CCIW team. For all those (current) EC backers who think Elmhurst is primed and ready, well this just shows you why they are close, but not there yet.
IWU looked awfully good and their defense was more eye opening than their offense.  Seemed like the IWU coaching staff had a great game plan and preparation to shut down the EC weapons.  I would say IWU has a very good shot to knock off the Cards, especially since it's in Bloomington where all the opponents know "strange calls seem to happen from time to time."

Looking at Elmhurst, they are getting there.  Good teams finish drives and don't settle for FG's as opposed to TD's.

Given the interest that IWU vs Naperville is causing. Will we see anyone from d3football making their way to the lovely city of Bloomington for the weekend?

Not that it means a whole lot now, but one would expect IWU's and NCC's SOS to even out over the next 3 weeks as NCC still has to play Wheaton, whilst IWU gets the Augie juggernaut at season's end.

I hate to say this out loud (and it pains me to say it as an NCC alum), but I am leaning towards picking the Weenies this weekend.

There should be a video stream. I believe Titan Q said there was a live feed for all IWU home games. However, I am not sure of the quality of it, or how it has been working.

Thanks for the updates. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to catch it all due to the wife's obligations that will require me to go to the 2nd worst state in the US (Indiana) on Saturday evening. Probably could have caught to have the game time changed? I will pay you in strawpennies.
