Big game coming up. Being from Lombard, I couldn't help but reading the past few pages of this thread to see what everyone is saying about the game. I wish I can be in Naperville for this one.

I have to ask....SoDup?

It has a sort of style than the more accurate "SoDuP" lacks. ;)

Touche! But we don't play you till next week :)

I won't be using it. I have no problem with calling you people "North Central", or "NCC", or "Cardinals", or "Redbirds", or whatever, regardless of whether NPU is about to play you in a sport or not. In fact, I'm more offended that the Wheaties declined my offer to borrow the nickname "Napervillains" to refer to you lot. Typical Wheaton. ;)

I am actually offended by Sagewr's version of the nickname.

Well played, USee. I always like to see a joke ping-pong between the various CCIW rooms on d3boards.com. However, I must point out that wide receiver was never my position. Even in my salad days you could time me in the 40 with a sundial.

The team from "Southern DuPage County" as opposed to the Northern DuPage County team - Wheaton.

There is a long standing joke on this board where the Wheaton fans are so disgusted at the thought of the opponent that they can't even mention the name of the other team in the game for the "Little Brass Bell."  So for this year I chose to use "SoDup" because it is short and saves time on typing less dignified names.  It Wheaton vs. "SoDup".

Kovo

Sorry to take a break from all of the riveting Brass Bell banter.

But thank you Keith McMillan for the great article.  I suspect many on this board are former players, and I give kudos to all who suited and experienced the pain and joy of D3 football.  Good luck to the many seniors who will play their final games.  I, for one, will never forget my final game in a driving rain against North Park.  The walk from the field to Merner Fieldhouse with the clock reading 0:00 was the shortest walk that I ever took.

Great article and great perspective.  With that said, it is amazing to see how the interest and level of play was exploded over the past two decades or so. :)

"you people" really? I'd prefer "Napervillians" which is a pretty nice little nickname-probably why the Wheaties wouldn't use it-not nasty enough  :)

If you were really into the spirit of the rivalry, you'd be trying to get Mugsy fired by thinking up even nastier nicknames for Wheaton that would cause him to commit further office mayhem.

North Central College is going for its 6th consecutive Conference Championship. 02 Warhawk, you know what that is like.

I don't care what the folks from Wheaton call NCC, as long as they remember it's preceded by "CCIW Conference Champion."

Leave it to a NPU guy to stir up the pot. Thunderthighs, BlumanOranges, not really nasty but very effeminate. Should be slugging the guy next to him in 3..2.. :o

Since we have to wait another 44 hours for kickoff, I'm going to watch some Wheatie film to pass the time!

Love the videos, hope we can see some similar ones from this year. Only 35.5 hours to game time, guess I'll just watch the videos again, this year hopefully should be similar.

Head tells me 28-16 SoDup.

Heart tells me 19-17 Wheaton.

Making the 7 mile trek to the south with my 7 year old boy.  I'm hoping for a classic "Battle for the Bell" that we'll be talking about for years to come and for safety for all players involved.

You think that's bad, man you should see Norm lose his mind when he talks about anyone from Decatur calling us green weenies.  I've even heard him drop an F bomb on that one, from a guy who almost never, ever swears.
