I don't think I'd go that far (although that would be nice). I think it might be close. Every game from here on out should be a battle.

AndOne,

I said "at least 3..." which can certainly be interpreted as 4 or more. Bulandr wasn't the household name on that defense like Garza or Hayes. I think NCC plays 6-8 defensive linemen every game and all of them would be starters at most bother d3 schools. Bulandr is only on the field about 60% of the time due to the way they rotate players.

Is a "household name" the claim to fame? They could have just given that award to the whole defense, they've all come up big at some point during the season this year-very, very impressive defense.   :)

Well...finally back at a computer after what seemed like a long 2 days with plenty of highs and lows.

I was at the IWU/MC game. It was exciting to say the least. I was very impressed with the IWU defense all day. I think by the end, they were just worn down a little bit. And as USee said a few pages ago, teams with 5 turnovers can't win in the playoffs. IWU came out storming on the first drive and then forced a couple of TOs, but didn't get much out of them. At the beginning of the 4th quarter, the crowd was starting to see shades of Wabash/IWU from 2 years ago, just a little lower scoring. It was a great game to watch with a bad result. My thanks to those seniors, one of, if not the, winningest class in IWU football history.

I am interested to see what happens this weekend for NCC/Wabash. I read that Wabash didn't play a tough schedule and that the CCIW champ is a different animal. I can't say if that is true or not because I have not followed Wabash. However, I did experience playing Wabash as a CCIW champ in the playoffs. They are very good and will be ready to play on Saturday. I am going to say that it will be the best matchup of the 2nd round.

Plus, the Bash has a big presence on the boards, which should make this short work week a little faster with the # of people popping on here.

The work week is always better when the boards light up. This is the second round of the play-offs-all the games from here on out will be tough. Looking forward to a great game on Saturday!

This is the part that really sticks out to me. Most people that don't know the NCC program would assume it must be because Bulandr isn't as good as every says, why else would he rotate out? But, as we saw with Wenger last year (possibly the best D3 MLB in the last 10 years), it doesn't matter how good you are on NCC's D. They rotate everyone.

I think NCC is going to win this one relatively easy. This upcoming game reminds me of the time Wabash came to Whitewater in 2007 with their first-team All-American linebacker (Adi Pynenberg). They had a ton of confidence after running the table in the NCAC, and winning its first two playoff games. However, they received a huge reality check that day in Whitewater losing 47-7.

Looks like this NCC/Wabash is a similar situation. With the only difference being Wabash will be at home.

I for one will be pulling for NCC. I think they have the best chance to knock off Mount.

DBQ1965

I don't know much about Wabash, but after watching NCC dismantle my beloved Spartans last Saturday, I have to say that the Cardinals are a complete team.  The two QB rotation seemed to work well for them ... and the running game was impressive.  Most impressive, however, was the linebacking corps ... there are some really good athletes there.

One side note:  I listened to WONC broadcast of the game (for as long as I could stand it anyway).  I only hope that when I was a student sports broadcaster back in the 60s I wasn't that much of a "homer."  The play-by-play guy wasn't bad, but the color guy was awful.

Ok ... GO CARDINALS!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

No. You're wrong about their record that year, too.

Anyway. To both of you:

Come over to the NCAC boards, read this, and then we can argue a little more specifically. I don't want to re-post the thing here. It takes a lot of page space to refute this kind of half-aware, lazy opinion:

MasterJedi

I really don't mean to anger any Wabash fans but I really don't think Wabash will be able to compete with NCC. I'm pretty sure their skill players and QB will be able to get the job done but I don't have confidence in Wabash's line's. If this holds true the skill players won't be able to do what they can. I think lakeshore has the score about right at 42-10.

A lot of hopeful teams seem to get a nice check like that when they go to Whitewater recently.  8-)

Stagg Again!!

I think USee said it best on Saturday (11/19) on the NCAC Boards when he said, "The biggest challenge is figuring out how to score points against them (NCC)."  On my count, NCC has seen five better offenses than they will see on the field this coming Saturday.

(DIII Rankings)     SOS        Rushing       Passing          Total Offense     Points Scored
Redlands              #30        #41            #87               #37                  35  (SCIAC)

BashDad

I also remember the NCAC champion giving UWW a real scare all of two years ago.

Please. Come up with something better than "strength of schedule" or "I saw them play four years ago."

CardinalAlum

I'm laughing that the Whitewater guys are the overconfident ones in here!!   :D  We appreciate the confidence coming from the Warhawk Nation!

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. I don't think Wabash wins if NCC scores 20+. Wabash's D sounds solid, I just don't know if they can hold NCC down for 4 quarters.
You win! You always do!
