My condolences for your loss, Ypsi.

Both my father and step father are deceased.  Thankfully my mother is still living.  I miss both of them but the person I miss the most and think of most often is my grandmother Whoodie.  I visit her gravesite once a year just to say hi and let her know that I still think of her.   She was incredibly special.

Great story, Greg.

Mr. Ypsi

After 12 days in 'the land the internet forgot', I'm back from helping my mom adjust and helping tie up all the inevitable loose ends (and there were many - at their ages, dad did all the finances and such, mom all the 'household' stuff - and it was clear that dad was sometimes more impaired the last few months than any of us realized: overdue bills, unfiled taxes, expired license tabs on his car, etc.).

Thanks for the kind words - it IS appreciated and helpful.

You are absolutely welcome and welcome back Mr. Ypsi.  I have been keeping you in prayer as have others here as you know. I know what having to sort our all that "household stuff" as well as any estate aspects that might be necessary and/or helpful for your mom (and you too) as my brother and I had to do that when our parent passed away in the last 4-6 years.  It can be overwhelming (and a mess as you have discovered - and especially with all of the legal "junk" that has to be addressed - much of the latter a waste just due to the ridiculous beaurocratic mandates.  In fact, my brother and I just (finally) had the estate aspects get finalized this past fall and that 4 years since dad passed away.  What a pain (and in one sense, a waste of time) that process was.  Anyway, glad your back.  And also, hang in there.

Ypsi I as well want to wish you and your family the best in this trying time.

Sorry I have not been on much since the end of the season. I am hearing some good things out of spring ball and the recruitment trail for the bluejays. Maybe this year will be the year the next step is taken.

Has anyone else heard anything from their schools? Whenever the NFL draft is coming up I cannot help but start the look ahead to the D3 season.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Here are a few commits to NCC for 2012:

Eric Knaperek, OG, Lincoln-Way North
Richard Zirngibl, QB/DB , Buffalo Grove
Noel Gaspari, QB, Batavia
Josh Beveridge, DT, Crystal Lake South

Don't know too much about them. Anyone have any info?

Two more QB's. Should prove interesting in 2013. Still waiting to hear how Stanek, Dicken and Tassio are doing this spring.

Richard Zirngibl played Free Safety and QB at Buffalo Grove. I think it's more likely he'll be used on defense.

Noel Gaspari played for his father, Mike, at Batavia HS. Both of Noel's parents are NCC graduates. Mike played WR at NCC. Noel is similar in size to Stanek, but  faster. Good athlete.

I'm told by my peeps that Stanek has had a great Spring and will give Dicken serious competition.

That's some good news! Was wondering how a year off would affect his play.

No word yet on Kyle Fiedorowicz's NFL fate, haven't been able to find anything regarding a camp invite, but there are a couple of D3 guys getting a shot at Bears camp:

Brad Fortney - LB - Carthage
Matt Blanchard - QB - UWW

Obviously both guys have a major uphill battle to make the roster, but you would have to think Fortney has a better shot, as the Bears LB corps is aging. The QB position has finally been solidified (Cutler, Campbell, McCown, Enderle). I suppose it's possible Blanchard could beat out Enderle for a spot on the practice squad, though.
