I'm curious what "running style" is suited for D3?  I asuume that the slow couldn't find a hole that a tank could drive through style doesn't fit very well.

IMHO: I would say it takes a super athlete like Coppage to be a successful slasher runner with the uper level D3 teams.  The successful runners square there shoulders to the opponent and slide outside or to an open hole. Just my opinion but I've seen many slasher runners get good yardage on average and below teams to be completely stopped with the upper level teams or teams that make the playoffs.  Many times getting negative yardage.

Looks like a strong recruiting class for Elmhurst this year. I like how you can see the kids highlight films listed next to most of the kids. Some really good size it looks like.

While I'm looking forward to the 2012 season, it will be bittersweet as this will be my son's senior year. One thing I've learned about recruitng classes over the past three years is that no matter how good they look on paper, you have to see how many show up, and make it through camp and that first year as they adjust to college ball.

I said that for 10 years on the air and other than a few 6-4 campaigns, Elmhurst is still trying to build a foundation.  Until Elmhurst DOES win 7 or more games and can beat the 1-2 place teams consistently, nobody is going to give them any serious looks at being a top dog.

I agree. The biggest gains you always see are from Freshman to Soph year from kids. Its who is going to stick around to make those impacts in year two. Obviously if you are hoping for freshman to be a seroius player from day one you might be in trouble. Although some positions are easier for Freshman such as RB and WR. Run Straight and Fast son and dont drop the ball.

Lastly do others agree that Illinois Wesleyan has taken a step up in the division in the past few years.  For me the question is how big is that step going to be with the improved recruiting and facilities.

Over the last 5 years, IWU is right there with Wheaton.  CCIW wins 2007-2011...

North Central: 33 (5 titles)
Illinois Wesleyan: 25 (2 titles)
Wheaton: 25 (0 titles)

Very true statement and what I don't get is why Carthage can't seem to get over the same hump and content for the conference title.  The football facilities in Kenosha are among the best in the CCIW now.

Perhaps the Red Men are too content for them to contend. ;)

Some real contentious content in that post, Greg. ;)

I contend that I continue to be contentious because I'm too contumacious to stop.

FYI: I'm not sure if it was noted previously but the first game for Wheaton on there web site is scheduled for a Thursday.  8/30/12 at 7:00 pm. Mugsy do you or any other posters know why?  Should we expect the usual crowded stands?

Stagg Again!!

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.  What a perfect day for the 2012 college football season to kick off.  NCC romped in the Barcelona Classic this morning with a final score of 36-3 after being up 36-0 at the half.
