I believe the web site roster is continuously updated as new info is received from the staff.
My reasoning centers on the fact that a week or two ago, Kabba was listed on the roster, but
his name has since been removed.
This could put a crimp in the Cardinals long passing game as Kabba is also a sprinter on the track team
with a distinct ability to strike quickly on a deep go pattern. Other members of the receiving corps are
going to have to step up, and another deep threat is going to have to emerge.

Thanks all y'all for your feedback!  I still marvel at NCC's transformation, i.e., three conference losses in six years!  Wow.
And hopefully another great conference season ahead!:)

True, I saw a few changes, but I will have to find out about JR. I am thinking they will wait until camp is over to finalize the roster as they have not added all the new guys yet.

Yeah, as an old timer, I still remember the decades long 'big four, little four'.  NCC was among the 'little four'! :P

Millikin was among the 'big four'.

How times change! ;D

Well, as long as IWU has overcome their slump and rejoined the 'top four' (which no longer exists).  Now, if we could only beat YOU! 8-)  For entirely too long, it has been 1. NCC 2,3 Wheaton, IWU (pick the order) 4,5,6 Augie, Elmhurst, Carthage (order du jour) 7 Millikin, 8 NPU.  Time for a shake-up (preferably with IWU rising, rather than falling :D).

I'n not necessarily an "old timer", but I still remember my freshman year at NCC (2000). Watching NCC vs Millikin (boy those NCC kickoff returns were dangerous for the NCC boys), or..well, NCC vs seemingly almost everyone else. The "Q4" was the go-to offensive play. No one saw it coming, ever!

I also remember a friend of mine that same year, saying how "by the time we graduate, we will be conference champs". He was off by a couple of years in his prediction, but considering the program's history, a couple of years isn't too bad!
You win! You always do!

Nice little piece on the Big Blue. 70 freshmen from a wide variety of places shows this staff is committed to rebuilding the program.

I hear Kabba is not playing this year.

The question, of course, is can any of them play. Especially, at a high enough level necessary to challenge for CCIW conference leadership or, initially, even a 1st division finish. Never the less, the ability to land 70 recruits is commendable.

High numbers of recruits seems to be a theme throughout the MU athletic dept. as they have also brought in a large basketball recruiting class for the upcoming season. This is likely due, in large part, to the opportunity to play meaningful minutes early in a recruit's collegiate career.

North Park has started camp with 97 players. Compared to the cast of thousands at schools such as Carthage and Adrian, 97 doesn't sound like a lot. It's definitely smaller than the 115 or so with which the Vikings started camp last year. This is because the Park has not brought in a huge freshman class in terms of numbers. But the key thing is that retention, which has always been NPU football's biggest bete noire, was very good. Most of last year's players came back this year, particularly the players who saw playing time last season. So Scott Pethtel and his staff will be able to bank upon a commodity which NPU football has very rarely possessed: Experience.

97 players is not bad. And you can't beat having experienced players in the fold, especially at QB.

While a good and experienced QB can often be the biggest difference maker on a football team, its important to remember that he is just 1 of 11 players (1 of 22 if you count the separate defensive unit). Accordingly, if a team has significant holes at several other positions, they likely won't be able to be deemed a "successful" (substitute another word of your choosing) team. For instance, a certain local team with what has been called a "franchise" QB, has not been highly successful due to the fact they have had a porous offensive line, no fast/skillful wide outs, a weak pass rush, and consequent soft secondary coverage, not to mention a GM who didn't know a good 1st round draft choice from a hole in the ground.
As someone said, it takes a village, not just a QB.   ::)   :)

97 is a good number.  I think WIAC rosters are limited to 100, so you are right around that mark.

Experience is a big thing.  Hopefully they'll be competitive in the non-conference portion of their schedule, and in the conference schedule too.

I think 100 is just about right for all rosters.
