All the jawing and mudslinging can wait.

On a happier note, God gave us an ultimate blessing as Mrs. 79Jaybird gave birth to a baby girl. Alexandra 7lbs 14oz. 21" long at 7:59AM 9/24. Mommy and baby are healthy and will share the same birthday.   Alexandra joins big sister Emma (2 1/2) and will hopefully be a CCIW fan someday.

Awesome.  I would say good job, but everyone knows that Mrs. Jaybird does all the work!  ;D

I was really surprised with the numbers.  I guess that I didn't suspect that much mediocrity (at least stats-wise) that has hit Rock Island.  It's still strange for me to see that low rushing yards per game.  It's been several years now since Augie changed it's offense, but still strange for me to see those numbers.

I'm sure some of those stats are a stabbing pain to some Augie faithful, particularly those in the mid-to-late 80's.  Allowing 190 yards a game rushing and nearly 400 total yards!

To put that into perspective for the "whipper snappers" (who will immediately say "who cares, because that was over 25 years ago..."), the 86' Vikings defense let up 331 net rushing yards IN 12 GAMES!  That is 27.5 yards per game.  They held teams to 0.8 yards per carry and only 2 rushing TD's.

This years Vikings have already allowed 240 yards more rushing in 3 games than the entire season in 1986.

Stunning! :o

Congrats, Jaybird, and all the family.  Warmly welcome the new wee Jaybird!   Save alot, alot of money, as they will be in college before you know it.  Enjoy the magical years for sure -- between 3 or so and 12 or so, then the parents become brain dead and the kids go off to be with their friends.  After about 23 or 24 the kids come back and finally admit how much their parents actually knew and all they did for them.  Just say'in.

Yes, Augie stats are pretty sad.  I can remember the tough Augie teams from the late 60s and 80s and this is a long long deep descent for the Augie program.  Perhaps NP will beat Augie this year . . .  I'm cheering for that!

Congrats 79!  ;D
Hopefully, she takes after mom and has her looks!  :)
At 21 inches, Elmhurst may have the 1st member of its 2030-31 basketball team.  8-)
Wonder what tuition will be then?

More than the average middle class working family can afford.

Love Me Some Negative Karma!

79jaybird

Thank you all for the well wishes. I/we feel very blessed and grateful to the good Lord that we have two healthy girls.

Now back to football.  I think it is going to be one of the more exciting weekends we have had in recent years with Post Season being affected in week 1 of the CCIW slate.  I will be in Milwaukee showing off the new babe to the In-Laws and family,  thus will have to tune in on the Net to keep up with what's going on.  If I don't get back on this board before the weekend,  good luck to all teams and look forward to some exciting games.

IMO Closer game than we expect, Millikin v IWU.  Strangely enough, they already have 2 common opponents in Hope and Aurora.  If I remember correctly from the IWU guys, the Titans seemed to check out in the second half against Hope.  That and the road game may explain the closer score.  I'm not sold on Millikin yet, but even a competitive game against IWU might signify the beginning of the return of the Big Blue.

This is a big week though.  We'll likely see where Elmhurst stands and North Park may have a shot at a win.  Not really sure where to place Carthage yet.

Kebede gets very good length on his kickoffs, but since I attend zero non-North Park D3 games, I cannot sufficiently judge how he rates.  Congrats, Tony.

Congrats Jaybird.  I also have two daughters.  What really cool about your new one is sharing the birthday with her mother.  I can see some really fun birthday parties ahead in your future.  Best wishes to all of you.
