Daily Herald article re North Central's Medical Director:

North Central:
While the athletes will forever get the recognition for on-field results, the team of support that helps to get them there rarely gets any credit. The student-athletes at North Central College owe much of their success to one man, and later this month Ken Sanders will be inducted into North Central College's Athletics Hall of Fame.

For nearly four decades Sanders has been the team physician at North Central, and on Oct. 27 he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Sanders came to the school in 1976, and as an orthopedic surgeon he was quickly given control over much of the athletic training in the university. He became an influential force in helping the university hire its first full-time athletic trainers, even helping to create a fully accredited athletic training education program.

Sanders grew the program and now serves as the education program's medical director as well as a lecturer and clinical instructor to athletic training students.

The long-time physician is still active in his role at North Central. He can be seen nearly every football game along with many other sporting events the teams compete in. Sanders is one of six people who will be inducted into North Central College's Athletics Hall of Fame.

Four scopes, two on each knee, courtesy of Doc Sanders!   What a great guy!   Congrats, Doc!

Was that from the Valvano like search for someone to hug after a basketball victory?   ;)

Every sport seems to have CCIW relative relations where brothers, sisters, father-son, mom-daughter, have ties to X school. Then there is a situation like the May family where mr & mrs. May went to NPU, the eldest daughter went to NC, the youngest daugther went to IWU.  I actually grew up with the older two and the middle daugther was in my class.  Great family and my mom still sees them routinely in MP.  What do you do though on gameday?

If I do have a son one day and he elected to play college football in the CCIW, I'd be a happy camper regardless of the school he picked.

Homecoming weekend at Langhorst this Saturday with the high-flying Wheaties making the short bus trip east down Roosevelt Road.

Game will be available via live video stream at http://www.bluejaytv.com/

Not just a big game in the CCIW standings, but Saturday's tilt at 2 pm may go a long way in defining the potential playoff hopes for both teams.  Not sure if the selection committee would favor a non-conference road loss to a sub-par foe (Albion) or an in-conference road blowout loss to a top 10 team (NCC) - but either way, a second loss for either club would make the playoff road MUCH more difficult, if not outright take that chance off the table all together.

Should be a good one!  Looking forward to Saturday's festivities.  Go 'Jays.

Hopefully the Jays' defense eats their Wheaties because Wheaton's offense is going to be tough to stop.  Hope for the best, however I just don't see Elmhurst winning this game.  (I.E. NC game).  The benefit is that it is at home, however EC/WC is not really a big road trip.  The real key is going to be if Elmhurst can get pressure from the D-Line to disrupt Roberts momentum on offense.  And on EC O- if Elmhurst 2nd and 3rd options are going to be available, if the running game (Scotty) is not working.  Hope to see a bunch of Alumni at the game.

Likewise, if either of my two daughters want to play D-III I would give them my blessing. Even Augie because you choose a school based on Academics and how the school will help you in real life. Athletics is just a side bar that comes with the school.  And all (8) institutions are unbeatable.

Quick question to all the D3Boards veterans...

What exactly constitutes a "karma point" - or, to be more specific, what action results in a karma point knock?  Example - i am sitting on negative 11.  I was negative 7 a day or two ago, and negative 10 this morning - i post a simple non-negative line or two previewing the Saturday webcast/EC and Wheaton game and get knocked another karma point today?  What's up with this?

I would understand if it used as a means to self-police meat head posters or chat room bullies, but i seem to keep heading in the wrong direction with no justification.  Trying to be a solid and consistent contributor, any of the vets out there have any insight?
