As far as I can see, IWU doesn't really have a #2 QB who is "CCIW ready."  As I mentioned Saturday, sophomore Alex Hale left the team in the preseason - he was clearly IWU's #2 heading into the year as far as I know.

I guess the decision is between 6-0 sophomore Tyrell Bolden and 6-5 freshman Tyler Hook.  Bolden is more of a runner than thrower...Hook is a traditional, drop back QB.  Norm Eash has coached both types of QBs in recent years -- Brien Rooney (2010) being the running variety.  Bolden injured his shoulder playing CB against Wheaton and had to leave the game -- I'm not even sure if he's healthy.

I'd be tempted to pick the guy who allows you the least disruption in the offense - Hook.  I struggle with the throught of basically changing the entire offense for Bolden.  Although, again, to Norm Eash's credit, he did exactly this in 2009 when pocket passer Kraig Ladd went down at home gainst Wheaton and he inserted Brien Rooney.  Rooney led IWU to victory that day.

Hoping for the best but, honestly, the Titans appear to be in a lot of trouble right now.  Would like to work out a trade of maybe a couple IWU basketball players for Garrett Meador.

The same could be said for Elmhurst if Scotty Williams was to go down.  Depth is something that is hard to find on a consistent basis.

Saturday just became even more painful.  It wasn't enough the the Titans couldn't hold a 9-point lead with 4+ minutes to go, the news about Gallik is, while not unexpected, heart-breaking.  I'd figured our chances in Naperville even with him were 'slim' or 'none' - now 'slim' just hobbled out the door.  Before the injury I was very confident about beating the Blue Jays; unless one of the backups gets really good really quickly, I'd now make the Jays the solid favorites on the final day.  And while I would probably still pick IWU over Augie, I'm not even all that confident about that one.

Not that I'm expecting much sympathy from Wheaton or Naperville - I still suspect the Titans would have lost both those games in 2009 if your guys were at full strength.  Injuries are a bitch, but, alas, they are a part of football. :P

All season ending injuries suck, but at least your guys have eligibility left. It is even more painful when a senior goes down and is past the point of getting a medical redshirt.

I'm cool with that plan, as long as Victor Davis refuses to waive his 'no-trade' clause! ;D

Yes, as Q has indicated, Pgraph now confirming, reporting that Gallik has a torn ACL, needing surgery, and is lost for the season.  Sure hope the other injuries aren't as serious -- to Stinde, Bolden, Musso earlier, and the linebackers mentioned in previous posts.  Seems like a perfect storm of injuries in one game.  I think it very tough now to compete with NCC, though I have higher hopes than Ypsi of our Titans beating Augie and ECC.  But, 8-2 won't get you to the post season, IMHO.  Very unlikely.  Could be a year where the CCIW only gets the AQ.  WC or ECC could finish 8-2 and also not get in.  Really feel so badly for Gallik and the other injured Titans.

No trades for basketball players.  Let's just return the favor to WC in basketball later in the year.  Hopefully, Gallik will return next season and perhaps some of these backup QBs get some very valuable experience and playing time in the next three weekends.  Still, a tough tough loss to see so many important players go down all in one weekend.

Victor Davis falls into the "untouchable" category as far as CCIW trades go.

I don't believe this had been posted yet...

Wow. Anyone know what's ailing Coach Rucks? He is a class act. I saw him struggling down the stairs from the Wheaton press box after the Carthage @ Wheaton game.

I would trade Meador for Nick Anderson and a guard to be named later

Its really a shame about Wesleyan QB Gallik. He had an absolutely fabulous game throwing for 3 TDs, and running for 2 more. If it is an ACL, with the combination of his young age, and the recent advancements in surgical and rehabilitative treatment, he should be able to come back strong.
When I tore my ACL playing basketball several years ago my surgeon told me that if the patient is under age 30 a 100% comeback is the likely outcome following surgery and rehab, For age 30-39, the results are still excellent with post op recovery of 90-95% of the pre injury level, and often higher. If you're over 40, the road to recovery is tougher and usually results in about an 85-90% pre injury capability. And, as I said, that was several years ago.
Hopefully, luck will come into play, and the injury will prove less serious than originally feared. Good luck to Rob!

On another note, it was reported at the NCC-Carthage game that CC head coach Rucks took ill during halftime, and was then taken to the hospital a short time later. Lets hope examination did not turn up anything serious, and Coach Rucks is able to return to the sidelines next week. Anybody have any updated info on this?

Would you throw in Coach Nate Frank to get the deal done?
