WYLER'S AND KOOL-AID must be really getting big buisness this week as there is tons of it being spread around in both blue and red forms.  Frankly, I don't think this year's bell game is going to be very close.  I don't think anybody in the conference has the same tools and depth as NC. I think NC wins this game minimally by 2 TD's.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

  • I haven't posted a single derogatory statement about NCC, yet...
  • I'm calling them NCC instead of "SoDup" or "the team from Naperville"
  • I have gone on the record that my head tells me NCC wins by more than 3 TD's - even if my heart tells me the coaching staff and players will find a way to make this a "bell-worthy" game.
  • I have stated in reply to AndOne's question that I don't see Wheaton's passing and NCC rushing negating each other because I believe NCC's passing is as efficient as Wheaton's.
  • I have stated NCC's defense is better than Wheaton's.
  • I have stated I question Wheaton's ability to stop NCC's rushing attack.
I merely was having difficulty understanding the relevancy of the point ILGator and newcardfan were trying to make regarding statistics and if NCC starters didn't sit half a game every week.

All this equates to "smack talk" and "mudslinging?"  ???  Can I go more "Lou Holtz" on you?

Let me get you a refill on your Wheatie Kool-Aid.  Looks like you're empty and speaking rationally to me.  You can drink as much as you like bell week, though!!

Kinda hard to talk smack when games in recent history haven't been nail-biters or Wheaton "W's", but I'll give in a try at some point to keep things interesting during bell week.

Yeah... now you've got the upstart BlueJay fans yippin' for respect, the disappearance of Augie...  It's all quite disconcerting.   :P ::)

Certainly looks like a 9-1 finish for this year's Elmhurst squad.
Ordinarily, it would not really have been very reasonable to expect them to post a win against IWU. However, the loss of Rob Gallik has had a severe debilitating effect on the Weenie passing game, rendering it little more than a shadow of its former self. When you compound Gallik's loss with a much less than 100% T.J. Stinde (he played a little at NCC), the IWU offense is slowed to a crawl at best.
Notwithstanding Gallik being out, and Stinde being extremely limited, I must say I did not expect NCC to vaporize the Weenies by the final 52-0 score. I figured the IWU defense was good enough to hold the final score to a respectable deficit. However, the Cardinal offensive onslaught made it look like the defense was no more on the field than was Mr. Gallik. Accordingly, I look for a unified EC contingent, with a full tank of "mo" under their wings, and home field advantage, to post a W to close the season.
As far as EC's prior venture over the boarder, it looks like they will land in Wisconsin with their hosts suffering from an extended bout of depression. While losses to WC, IWU, and NCC could have been expected, I'm sure the CC team expected a better result against Augie rather than the 25 point drubbing they suffered in Rock Island. Again, all signs seem to point to a EC win in Wisconsin.

I remember when the toughest thing about a football trip to North Central was deciding what kind of beer to get at The Lantern.

Change is often a pain in the ass.

I bet you would say the same thing about some previous basketball trips to beautiful downtown NaPPerville.   ;)

Alas, a double shot in the ass lately!   ;D   8-)

I'm happy that I could stir things up a bit, proving that the NCC-Wheaton rivalry is still one of the feistiest in D3. And it's only Monday.

Forgot to mention that I had the opportunity to speak to Mr/Mrs Gallik prior to the game Saturday. THey advised Rob is doing well, all things considered, and that it looks like he will have reconstructive surgery the Mon or Tues before Thanksgiving.
I extended best wishes for a full recovery, and added that I was sure that fans of all the other conference schools would express the same thoughts given the opportunity.

Elmhurst is on a fast track to a Pool C bid. They are certainly 3 plays away from being 3-3 right now but they have done what they needed to do and are in the drivers seat to a playoff appearance. If the Blue Jays figure out a way to finish 9-1 and make the playoff, then 7 of the 8 CCIW teams will have made an NCAA playoff appearance since 2000. That is pretty impressive.  I don't think anyone in Elmhurst will be apologizing for a 9-1 season and an NCAA playoff appearance. That would be an unprecedented season for the Jays. Celebrations of untold magnitude should be planned and executed.

Seems Titan basketball has taken a page from Wheaton football over the past few years.  Losing to Naperville in the regular season but still playing meaningful post aeason games after the red birds are done.

Uhh Usee,
Wheaton football hasn't played in a meaningful football game in the postseason after my Cardinals were done since 2008.  I don't believe that qualifies as "past few years". ;)

Nah.  The March trips to beautiful Salem, Virginia make traveling to Naperville in January and February pretty bearable.

Just four years ago sure sounds like "past few years" to me!

But then, I'm a 'weenie' - what do I know?
