It's a final in Wheaton

Wheaton 55-7.

Congratulations Thunder on a CCIW championship!

Elmhurst holds on and wins 35-31 over IWU. Gutsy performance by both teams. IWU's Bolden was awesome in the 2nd half. Too many injuries and too much Scottie Williams. SW is a special player

Best thing about today was the fact that Wheaton serves Chic-Fil-A in the press box.

Another ugly season of NPU football is over. But I still want to thank and congratulate the 20 NPU seniors for all the hard work and effort that they put in. I assign no blame to them. On the contrary, they are to be admired for sticking it out through thin and thinner. There's just not enough there in terms of team speed for the Vikings to compete in this league. But at least the program is retaining its players ... and the quality of young men in terms of academics and deportment that Scott Pethtel and his coaches have been bringing in continues to impress me.

NewCardfan--you left out one congratulatory gesture. You got 2 of the 3 co-champs....?????

Yes, congrats to all the co-Champs, esp. Elmhurst on a fine 9-1 season and an unexpected CCIW conference championship and, no doubt, a post-season berth.  My Titans gave you a hard test, good battle today, and Bolden and others had a fine second half to make a game of it.  But, just too much Scottie Williams and too many times Furco running free, with very high percentage of third down conversions.  Titans finish at 6-4 after such a promising start, then the injuries just hit and it was pretty much down hill from 7 minutes to go in the WC game.  Very sad.  But, some good things to build on in the second half today, great job Devonte Jones and also by the Titan receivers.  The Titans will be back.  Let's hope Gallik and Stinde and others can return next season, recover and heal well from the injuries. Hope WC gets a bid too, at 8-2, but doubt it.  Good luck to NC and EC in the upcoming playoffs.  Make the CCIW proud and win a few games, get a deep run into the tournament going.  Good luck.  Congrats to Mssrs. Williams and Furco on record-breaking CCIW careers at Elmhurst.

Let the basketball season begin.

Congrats to all of the Co-Champs...What a year in the CCIW. Good Luck to all playoff teams.

PLEASE Titan fans, stop mentioning injuries with every post . Everyone has them and nobody really likes to hear the crying. As an alum, I would rather we just worry about the things we can control, and figure out a way to beat just 1 winning team before we start to say how promising a season is.

Have a great selection Sunday and let's see if we can get 3 teams in.

I have my fingers crossed that somehow the CCIW gets three in. There are certainly three very deserving teams.

Having spent a year at Wheaton long ago ... I would say ... "That figures!"
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Congratulations to the three CCIW co champs North Central automatic qualifier Elmhurst sure pool c bid and Wheaton.

Elmhurst had a spectacular season earning and deserving the pool c bid.  I hope their fans get a home game or a close game so they can see their team in person.

It will be a shame for this Wheaton team not to make the playoffs being that it is a long shot at best.  I don't think we know exactly where this team really stacks up.  Yes they lost two games but I would love to see the offense and defense play a team like Mount Union to see if we are getting closer and where improvement is needed.

Regardless this team has a lot to be proud of.

Point taken, but while every team incurs injuries, I can't recall a top team (IWU was ranked #12 in the nation before the Wheaton loss) being THIS decimated by injury since Wheaton in 2009 (who were ranked #3 nationally before disaster struck and finished 1-3).  Depth is an absolute necessity for elite teams, but at some point injuries can overtake anything that depth can reasonably overcome.
