Two CCIW wins in round one. It doesn't matter which team you support as when the playoffs hit we are all CCIW fans. Congrats to NCC and Elmhurst for representing! Looking forward to a Thanksgiving round 2.

Does anybody have the location to the updated bracket? I have a blank one but was hoping to have an updated one with round 1 results filled in.

Way to go Elmhurst & NCC!  Two CCIW teams in the final 16.

USee has mentioned it several times.  How many conferences can say they've had 7 of 8 teams in the D3 playoffs since 2000?  With the Bluejays victory, how many have had 6 different teams win an NCAA playoff game since 2000?

No where near CCIW-like, but the OAC has had the following qualify:
Mount
BW
JCU
Capital
Otterbein
Heidelberg

And when they qualify, they most often have faced the same fate as Wheaton:
2006 - Capital lost to Mount in Round 3
2005 - Capital lost to Mount in the Round 3
2002  -  John Carroll  lost to Mount in the SEMI-FINALS
2000  - Ohio Northern lost to Mount in Round 1
1999 - Ohio Northern lost to Mount in Round 2
1997 –  John Carroll lost to Mount in Round 2

OAC losses that I can remember against someone other than Mount:
Baldwin Wallace to Wheaton (I think) back in the early 2000's
Otterbein to Franklin a few years ago in a shoot out
Heidelberg yesterday to Wittenberg
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Congrats to Elmhurst and North Central on their big football wins in round one yesterday.  Keep it going . . . and good luck next weekend in round two.  You'all have made the CCIW proud, carried the conference flag forward.  Kudos.

Congrats to NCC again on the national cross-country title.  An amazing run, for years and years and years.

The OAC was another conference I thought about regarding this topic, though I didn't take the time to research.  Thanks for providing the details.

BW/Wheaton game was back in 2003 and Wheaton won in a very tight game, 16-12.

Congrats to the CCIW on their 2 big wins yesterday.  Too bad Wheaton got left home to take Framington State instead or the CCIW would have been 3-0 in Round 1.

A great weekend this weekend as both CCIW teams make the round of 16. This week is a huge week for North Central as well as the conference.\

North Central really doesn't have a program defining win. In some ways, their 2010 run and close finish to UWW gave them national respect. Linfield isn't Mt Union or UWW but they are the next best. They are right there on the next tier of teams and have been for over a decade. Beat them and NCC will have a program defining win on the road. This is the type of game John Thorne built his team to compete in. Linfield is fast and strong. They will be better than any team NCC has faced since 2010 UWW. It is a great opportunity against an elite program.

Elmhurst is competing on behalf of the conference against another team that has played themselves into that Linfield tier nationally. While most won't give Elmhurst a chance to win this game, if they can compete and give themselves a chance in the 4th quarter, the Bluejays will make a statement as to the strength of the CCIW. Forget about the non-conference slate and the teams that were and were not on the schedule, Elmhurst is a different team now than they were vs Millikin, Wheaton and NCC.

This is a huge week for the CCIW. Will we be known as a second tier conference that wins in the first round but can't compete with the elite, or will NCC and Elmhurst help the CCIW take the next step. The MIAC was ranked 3rd and NWC ranked 5th by Keith in his early season ATN column. The CCIW was ranked 7th.

Nice job.......petty sure NWC would have 2 squads moving forward also, if they hadn't played each other in the 1st round.  ;)

The game Saturday should be a good one, as NCC was very impressive versus Cal Lu, and have an outstanding team. It's natural most people think Linfield has been strong for a decade, since that roughly coincides with the 2004 National title team. However, Linfield's rise actually began in 1956, with a conference title. In 1961 and 1965 the Cats were playing for national titles, and the 70s were also loaded with playoff clubs. The 80s brought three national titles, and the 90s had a national title appearance among four playoff clubs. The long term success at a high level has just been amazing.

So newcard...does that mean you are having to book another flight out west for this coming weekend?  No doubt you'll be cramming a quick Thanksgiving Day celebration right before then!

Congratulations Elmhurst BlueJays!!!

I think the most telling stat in this game was 4th down conversions.

Your quarterback was better than we thought he was going to be as well.

The better team won.

Congratulations as a conference as well, two road wins in one weekend. Hope you do it again next weekend!

I had a bad feeling when Coe didn't score on their first possesion of the second half. That was a key 4th down conversion Coe did not make.  4th down conversions were the difference.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Yes, will book tomorrow and just got back home with a 24lb bird and everything that goes with it. will cook Thursday and fly Friday. should be fun. A Cardinal victory will make it a great  week-end.

Sounds like a great plan!  Glad you made it back safe and good luck this week and safe travels as well.  Enjoy the bird!
