Linfield isn't Mt Union or UWW but they are the next best. They are right there on the next tier of teams and have been for over a decade. Beat them and NCC will have a program defining win on the road.

Linfield has been strong for decades.   No losing season since 1955---The Streak.   Four national championships and numerous playoff games.

Yet, after seeing what you did to CLU, we must have our "A" game to compete.   At least it wasn't 100 degree weather, like when we played CLU in September.  That was the most uncomfortable football game I have ever attended.

IMO, you are the favorite this Saturday and we already respect you.  Should be a great game!

I'm sure the answer is buried somewhere on this discussion board, which I rearely frequent.  If Wheaton beat North Central, how did NCC and Elmhurst advance to the playoffs and not Wheaton?

Also, North Park is searching for a head football coach.  I know the Browns GM, Mike Holmgren, will be looking for a job at the end of the NFL season.

For the CCIW historians, has a CCIW team played Linfield or any other NWC team?

By point-differential among tied teams, NCC won the AQ.  For pool C, Elmhurst beat Wheaton h-to-h and was 9-1 vs. 8-2, so they would clearly be picked before Wheaton; Wheaton just ran out of pool C slots before their name was called.

I was going to post this last week! I think Mike Holmgren would be a GREAT candidate!

Wouldn't that be something?  I'd be very very intrigued to see what that would do to the balance of power in the conference.  Lol.

What time did the NCC football team return on Sunday ... and when do they leave for Round 2?

It was a charter flight, so that makes the travel easier. If I remember correctly from Twitter, they returned home Saturday night. I know that's typical for teams traveling by NCAA charter.
From what I understand, the travel was smooth and enjoyable. They will probably leave Friday morning again and then after the game on Saturday.

Looks like based on this information turnover margin is going to be huge yet again. The Jays need to force turnovers and take advantage. I cant wait until Saturday.

Absolutely NOT! I always lose (which is why I never could go to Vegas or to the boats). I'm just hoping for a great game, but of course, would love to see a Cardinal victory.

While I appreciate the Lou Holtz sentiment, I don't think that opinion is shared by many here.  Linfield has been there and has a track record of success that North Central can't touch.  (Well, outside of their cross country program...)

As USee suggested over the weekend, this is an opportunity for the Thornebirds to achieve a program-defining win.  But by no means will they go into this game as the favorite.

This concerns me more than anything else coming into the matchup:

The Cardinals did many, many things right on Saturday, but they still turned the ball over too many times.  They were fortunate that things were out of hand early enough that most of them didn't matter, and in the couple of instances where they could have shifted momentum, CLU didn't capitalize.  Linfield isn't CLU.  They will make the Cards pay for these types of mistakes.
