Congrats to Wheaton grad and a former coaching buddy of mine, Steve Ryan, who has his Morningside College team in the NAIA National Championship game!

I second this!  Steve has done an outstanding job with the Morningside program.  Steve was from the same class as I and was the OLB on the other side.

Which means that we played against each other (if '85 was your freshman year), unfortunately WC took home the Bell that year!  Congrats to one of your guys and Morningside.

Yup, 85' was my freshman year.  I saw the field on all special teams and in garbage time as a freshman, which means I would have likely played the last couple of minutes of 4th quarter against NCC in 85'.   :P ::)

The intersection of years we played and link to Steve Ryan are part of the reason CardinalAlum & I can give each other grief.

29-21.  WC pinned deep in it's own territory late in the game facing a 3rd and 20 when an official calls pass interference AWAY from the incomplete pass.  :o :o  WC is then able to run out the clock and retain the Bell.  :'(  No------I have gone over that game in my mind the past 25+ years (much)!!!

Well that's not a very smart play to interefere with an innocent Wheaton WR away from the play on 3rd and 20! Was that CardAlum?  ;D  Of course, even if NCC had forced a punt, they would have had to score against Mugsy and a formidable Wheaton D!  8-)

Ding, Ding!

Not quite, I was still a year away from facing the Wheaties and their ogrelike D ends!   >:(

Jeff Monken's Georgia Southern team won again today and is now in the IAA semis.

Jeff played for the Big Blue...his brother Tom was a great QB at IWU during my days on campus (early-90s).

Congrats to Caruso and the Tommies on their first ever Championship Game apperance in Salem. December Football is what every program across the country hopes to achieve.

Bluejays everywhere can hold our collective heads high - having battled the 14 win, undefeated title contenders to the Tommies' slimmest margin of victory in the National Playoffs (including opening up the largest lead St. T had surrendered all season) at their place.

Somewhat of a moral victory for EC, but a building block for a program on the rise, for sure.
It's a Great Day to be a Jay!

Mr. Ypsi

That's just incredible news for Scottie Williams!!  (I confess, I thought Nate Wara was a shoo-in.)
