I hope Kovo was being sarcastic. The possibility of such is why I apologized in case I read it the wrong way. I actually want to have misinterpreted his post and to be wrong in this case.  If i was worng, I hope he'll forgive me.;D
However, whether or not I misinterpreted his post, I believe what I said about 2nd place is still applicable. To much emphasis on if you don't get it all, you have nothing. And, with regard to the sportsmanship issue, on the basketball side of things we just had an incident where a coach fully supported a kid scoring a record number of points in an individual game wherein the opponent was one that a substantial number of high school teams could have probably beaten.

Yes guys, it was sarcasm indeed.  If you read my post, I mention that I suffer from the "affliction."   I am satisfied with conference titles and exciting playoff football.  I remember telling my friends that if the Cardinals could just win one CCIW Title that I would be able to die happy.  It actually pains we to hear my friends and fellow Cardinals say those EXACT things to me.   :-[

Maybe I'm an idiot on this (there ain't no good guys, there anin't no bad guys, theres only you and me and we just disagree), but no, I'm not kidding. I understand some people may ding me on this, but to me a championship is where you alone win 1st place. If you tie with someone else, you are CO-Champions, and if with 2 others, then you're TRI-Champs. THe fact that my fellow NCC supporters mention the Cardinals have now won seven straight championships does not deter my thinking on the subject. I realize I may be at odds even with others who root for the same team I do. My way of saying it would be that the Cardinals have won or tied for the CCIW Championship seven straight years.
The fact 4 titles were shared doesn't "illegitimate" them as you suggest. It just means that they weren't outright championships.

At any rate, this is a minor point. The main thrust of my recent post was that 2nd place isn't something that should necessarily be looked at as failure.  :)

Kovo---

Sorry. As I said, glad to have been wrong on my interpretation.

Gregory Sager

Well, we can certainly disagree about this. I don't see why anybody should ding you for it. But the CCIW's interpretation of this matter is that a title is a title is a title, whether it's outright or shared. If you look at the league website's historical pages for each sport, you'll see that shared titles are counted as being the same as outright titles. For instance, Tim Lester now has a "1" in the titles column in the list of coaching records, and John Thorne has a "7" next to his name in the same list.

Since this is how the CCIW chooses to interpret how titles are counted, it seems to me that that trumps all other arguments.

No problem.  I loved your reaction.  It should be the reaction of everyone when we hear such nonsense.

Does it really matter if it is shared or outright?  A champion is a champion. With more and more parity in the league the sole champion (given year) is becoming less numerous.

Saw the article in my SI on Tues. Very nice. I actually saw Scottie play some games at Downers South. His talent was obvious back then as now. EC was lucky to get him. Well deserved honor.

Not that it comes as any surprise, but as another point of confirmation that Jordan Roberts will be returning next year for his 5th year, he was voted as one of the offensive captains for the 2013 season.

If both stay healthy, it'll be interesting to see the numbers he and Hiben will post.
