Bluejays win today 96-0 in Italy.....not joking
Has any American college team that plays one of these European "National" teams ever lost. Those teams are pretty awful and the real point of the trip is to get the extra padded practices and the opportunity to go to Europe (if you can afford it).

Agreed...I think if you have a good number of players going the team bonding aspect probably means more then anything. To go on a trip like that and see such great places....very special.
Love Me Some Negative Karma!

Do any challenge for playing time this year?
probably not

Not even at LB?   ;) There are big shoes to fill there!
From what I understand, they have moved some people around (upperclassmen) to fill in there, but I could see some newcomers, especially if they are transfers, getting on the depth chart and getting some game experience. And yes, they do have some big shoes to fill as all three starting LB's have graduated or left and at least one back-up cannot play anymore.

That's a big question mark for this year!  If the past is any indication, Coach Thorne has got good athletes to plug into those spots.  They probably won't be as good as last years LB corps, but I'm sure they'll be adequate, except on November 9th.

That should be a good game with the Cards looking to return the favor and beat the Wheaties on the road while the Wheaties will be sure to take care of business so nothing stands in the way of them making the play-offs after being left out for two straight seasons.

Do any challenge for playing time this year?

The ones that interest me most are Kanis (DB/WR, Downers North), Bolger (C, Barrington, by way of Air Force Academy), Funk (6'5" WR, Bloomington), Brannick (QB, Freeport Aquin), Medved (RB, Triad), Pattat (RB/LB Byron), Segobiano (LB, Bloomington Central Catholic).

Also interesting to see more players from CO coming in (there were a few last year as well), as well as a couple from TX. NCC extending their reach.
You win! You always do!

Seeing as really good Naperville kids have been playing against NCC for years, its good to see us plucking good kids out of Bloomington!  Segobiano is supposed to be real good.

I believe that Augie had about 10 freshmen from Colorado last year, although I do not know how many of them are returning this fall. I guess you take kids from wherever they're from if they want to come, but I didn't think that Colorado was a that much of a hotbed for high school football compared to other states; perhaps that is not the case. Someone in the know can enlighten. (Maybe AU has an assistant coach with a connection to the Centennial State?)

Maybe there are not many small colleges with football in Colorado, so players have to go out of state if they want to play in college. Florida seems to be the place everyone wants to recruit.

Actually now that you mention it, there are not only no dIII football-playing colleges in Colorado (and very few non-dI for that matter), there are, to my knowledge, none in the Mountain Time Zone.

Mr. Ypsi

I think that is correct.  So far as I can recall, Colorado College is the only d3 in the MTZ and they don't play football.

AndOne

This year's recruiting class at NCC is certainly a wide ranging group with members from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida, Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, and California.
They may even be encroaching on Wheaton targets as 3 of the kids attended Christian schools in FL and CO.   ;)

It would have been nice if player positions would have been included with the list of names.
