Awfully quiet with such a big game this weekend.   Predictions on the Wheatie-Weenie game?  I'm going to say Wheaties win this one by 10 on the road.  Nothing but a gut feeling here.

Yes, very very quiet for the day before the BIG game @Tucci.  I said earlier IWU over WC 24-21.  Could also go much higher, with more of a shot-out type game, too.  We'll see how good these two defences really are tomorrow, with O challenges they have not seen up to this point in the season.  Home field should be some advantage for the Titans.

How well the two QBs do will be key, and TOs always a key to the outcome.

My early line was IWU -3.5.  Early action at the book has now moved it to:

IWU -2.5

I'm leaving it right there.

Hoping home field still helps the Titans like 05, 07, 09, 11!!! My only worry is that the last 2 years we have only beaten 1 winning team; Hope 14-7 this year. This will be the win that we need to silence the critics.

Massey has Wheaton 28 IWU 21. OAC pick em's has Wheaton -8.5. Those are some generous picks. I wouldn't give that many points and take my Thunder but I would definitely take some IWU -3.5.

I wouldn't put any stock into other scores against previous teams. The Hope score is meaningless. Football teams change so much during the course of a season which is why many coaches look at their season in subsets of 2-3 games. Injuries, development of young players, and team chemistry evolve during a season. Neither one of these teams has played anyone as good as each other to this point. And both of these teams has 28+ seniors that knows how to play these types of games. It's really hard to get a feel for what will happen. I think a wide variety of scenarios could play out and picking either team by 7+ points is reasonable.

If Wheaton had Mark Hiben or any other threat at WR I would be very comfortable picking Wheaton to win. I just think this game has the makings of a low scoring affair where field position and turnovers (neither team is very good so far at takeaways) will turn the momentum. Points will be hard to come by tomorrow. If IWU gets untracked it will favor them substantially. If Wheaton can hold the IWU offense in check, I would think a low scoring affair favors the Thunder.

I cold be totally wrong.

You should put this in quotes and place within your profile, so it shows up at the bottom of all your posts.  I think that would be a nice touch.

It provides such great confidence and insures I am actually never wrong.  8-)

... and putting it in bold italics as well as underlining it would make it even better.

My hunch is that you are likely correct.  When Wheaton lost Hiben, my pick went from the Thunder to the Titans.  (Besides, the last time Wheaton won in Bloomington, some of the players were in third grade! ;))  I'll stick my neck out (with a bit of hedging): IWU by 24-21 or 21-17.

(I'd be a whole lot more confident if Wheaton minus Hiben = IWU minus Gallik last year - but Hiben was not THAT irreplaceable!  Not (necessarily) saying Gallik is better than Hiben, but Gallik's replacement, while showing potential, was certainly not (yet?) CCIW-ready.)

Then, again, "I cold [sic] be totally wrong." ;)

I'm always baffled when people quote head-to-head streaks like this as actual influences upon how they foresee the outcome of a game. Team A is better than Team B? OK, I'll take Team A, then. But wait! Team A hasn't won at Team B's place in six years! Well, heck, then, pull out my arms and call me "clothespin"! That there's a horse of a different color! Better change my pick to Team B!

(Sorry about the homespun language. I've spent the day bantering with St. Louis Cardinals fans, so I'm in full yokel mode right now.)

Even if the two teams are pretty much dead even -- and I haven't seen anybody here cite that there's much in the way of daylight between the two teams involved in this particular instance -- it's still the same deal. Which is to say: Chuck, how in the world is what happened seven years ago between your school and USee's, or five years ago, or three years ago, going to possibly influence the outcome of tomorrow's game between the two schools whose colors combine to form a pumpkin? (Just keeping it timely, folks. ;))

Obviously it won't - wasn't the 'wink' enough of a clue?  (And since home field switches nearly every year, without checking I'll guess the Titans lost 7, 5, and 3 years ago [they may well have as long a streak of home wins as we do], but 2, 4, 6, 8 ... years ago ;D)

Actually, I interpreted the wink as a "Ha, ha, Wheaties!" wink, rather than an "I'm just kidding about the streak in Bloomington being a meaningful stat" wink.

All of which goes to say that I think you need to footnote your emoticons from now on. ;)

But Greg, it was BOTH!
