Who says we are getting to 3rd and long?   :P

Not iwu70 that's for sure!  ;) ;D

I'm pretty sure I quote this every year, but I rather like this:
"Chapman (1912) refers to the cardinal as "rather a clumsy fellow. His body appears to be stiff, as if it were made of wood, different in every way from the pliant, lithe body of the Catbird, for example. He hops about on the ground with tail held well up out of harm's way, and comes heavily down upon his feet, as if his body were really very solid. In fact, he is not at all a graceful bird."

Thomas S. Roberts (1932) says: "It is a rather restless, uneasy bird, moving constantly about, and when disturbed, registers its annoyance by elevating the crest to the fullest extent and accompanying its rather feeble chip by quick jerks of the long tail."

Some observers have stated that cardinals seldom bathe, or that the male rarely does so."

Guys, I am sometimes "tired and old."  Give me a break.  But, I stick by my prediction from having seen, close-up, both teams play IWU.  Just IMHO.  I'm sure you young turks are far wiser than I.  Good luck to both teams, a great rivalry no doubt, two top-flight CCIW programs getting after it.  Should be fun.  The two previous games at IWU these past two weeks with these two surely were great CCIW games, too.  WC has their backs to the wall for sure -- no W, no playoffs, very likely.  NCC has the embarrassment of last year to overcome -- similar to how the Titans felt about coming back and beating WC this year, after last year's game slipped away.

Good luck to both squads -- hope the game is intense, well-played, well-officiated, and injury-free.

Now that is something that we can all agree on, and not just in the Wheaton v Other Western DuPage County School Game!

I have no objection with "sticking to your prediction".  Opinions... everyone has them.  Just would be nice to hear why or provide something concrete to what is behind the opinion, rather than just stating your opinion repeatedly with a simple "gut feel".

Don't use age as an excuse though... USee and I are both older than you think (time at Wheaton goes back to the 80's).  Hardly makes us "young turks".

My "Turk-dom"  is waning as I graduated in 96.  Fortunately, I think I have a few years left :o

He's repeated his NCC @ WC prediction six times here since Saturday because this year in China it's the Year of the Parrot.

(CCIW basketball room followers will get that joke. My apologies to the rest of you. ;))

I have a gut feeling that either NCC or Wheaton will win this weekend.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

LOL,  Good one Greg.  Glad you have a good memory and can remember which year it is.  If my prediction proves wrong on Saturday, I'm sure it will be the Year of the Jackass.

On the other hand . . . it could also be, for some on this board, the year of eating crow.

I've got to rush back to Asia soon so I can find out what the upcoming Chinese zodiac year is as to inform all of you young turks (and not so young turks) . . .well, at least 8 times, a good lucky Chinese number.  This is to improve your cultural competencies.

ExTartan has made the most brave and insightful prediction yet!

What say you, gentlemen, on the outcome of WC-NCC -- a prediction, a score?

IWU70

P.S.  Mugsy, NC defense is better, they are huge upfront, basically stuffed the IWU run game, their offence is super efficient with adequate running, Stanek is outstanding, probably the CCIW MOP of the year, the ball comes out quickly, very accurately, preventing any pressure on the QB, NCC receivers are big, so WC DBs better be ready to win the foot race and the jump balls.  Overall, what I saw, NCC is a better team, perhaps by some good margin.  I could be wrong, but those are my reasons.  WC, had trouble stopping the IWU passing attack. NCC's passing game is better. No Hiben, game changer.  Lots of reasons.  I'm sure it will be a great game.  Good luck to both teams, programs.  No doubt a great rivalry.  iwu'70

I'll say North Central 28  Wheaton 17  I just think NC is too balanced and stacked for Wheaton this year.

Since I am dominating the CCIW pick'ems, you can pretty much chisel this in stone:

NCC - 49
Wheaton - 24
You win! You always do!

Gregory Sager

That seems like a bit too much in the way of scoring. I think it'll be more like NCC 31, WC 14.

Ahh, some equally brave souls.  Mugsy will soon be asking you for your explication.   The Year of many Jackasses?  Or a cohort eating crows?

I'm up to the Windy City this weekend, so likely off the board throughout, chosing the Art Institute and good eating with old IWU and China friends over being online this weekend.  I'll be back on by Tuesday to see how it all has played out, panned out.  Enjoy the silence from IWU'70.  No parrots, jackasses or crows . . . 'til next week.

Come on, Mugs, just admit you have a split personality!  :)

Sounds like a great game WC vs. NCC on Saturday.  I say NCC by at least 2 TDs.

Sure hope our Titans rebound, get their act and confidence back together after the NCC drubbing, and give Tyler Hook alot more help and support in his second CCIW start at QB.  The D has to play like they've been playing before the NCC game, and contain the much improving Doggies.  Need a good win on Senior Day, to send off a great group of Titan seniors.

IWU basketball Green/White scrimmage following football on Saturday @4:30 p.m. @The Shirk.  Basically two weeks of football remaining for most teams, two weeks 'til opening tip off for the basketball season.

IWU70

Make sure you check the date twice on this repost just to be sure. Seems like groundhog day to me.

iwu70

USee -- daja vu all over again.   :)  The cycles of (CCIW) life.

Difference this year for we Greenies is that we don't seem to have many major injuries, going into the last two games -- trying to get to the playoffs.  Knock on wood.

Good luck to both teams WC vs. NCC this Saturday.

Heading for the train.

And next, you'll probably go way out on a limb and say the team that wins will be the one that scores the most points.
