Congrats to Stunning Sean Dunning for being named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week -- and deservedly so. Take a gander:

QuoteDunning, a junior running back from Decatur, Illinois and St. Teresa High School (Communication major), rushed for 244 yards on 36 carries and four touchdowns during a 28-21 win at Carthage on Saturday. Dunning's 244 yards gave him 1,520 rushing yards for the season, setting a new Millikin record. Dunning's 1,118 rushing yards in seven conference games this season is ranked eighth in CCIW history.

That's a mighty fine day's work, and a mighty fine season as well. He deserved an OPOW award somewhere along the line during the conference portion of the season (he got one back in Week Four for his game against Aurora) -- but Millikin's lack of a CCIW win was undoubtedly holding him back from getting it. By knocking off Carthage this past Saturday to win their first CCIW game (and escape the league cellar in the process), the Big Blue paved the way for their star RB to win the award.

I've got a soft spot for the kid; his dad, Stunning Wayne Dunning (MU '83), was one of the best basketball players in CCIW history and is one of my all-time-favorite non-NPU basketball players from this league.

Ypsi and I see things similarly on this one, including bleeding green.  I'd see the Titans as a 1TD favorite over the Warthogs, with home field playing a part.  Titans need to get the offence clicking again at a higher efficiency level -- esp. the passing game.  Hope Garvey is able to play.  Except for the NCC game, last quarter, the D has played well all year.  Titans are vulnerable to tall, strong WRs.

Congrats to Devonte Jones on his 1,000 yard season -- only three Titans in the history of the program have done that.  Great job -- Devonte and O line.  He had lots of return and receiving yardage as well.

Truly impressive numbers for Dunning.  Congrats to him for sure.

As GS said above, congrats to Millikin's Sean Dunning on being named Offensive POW.

Congrats also to NCC"s Nick Slezak, and Nick Dace who were names Defensive and Special Teams PsOW, respectively. Slezak's award was his 2nd straight. He is the Cardinals season leader in tackles (87), tackles for loss (17), and pass breakups (6).
Dace is NCC's all-time leading scorer with 364 points.

Congrats to Slezak and Dace as well.  Very well done.  A great kicking, scoring career for Dace.  Tons of opportunities which he clearly took skilled advantage of.

Looking forward to two great play-off games for CCIW teams this weekend.  Is NCC a 3 TD favorite?  I have IWU over the Warthogs by 1 TD.

High noon, lots of very good teams facing off.  Hoping for a bigger, better crowd at Tucci Stadium @ Wilder Field this weekend.  Let's hope Gallik and the IWU WRs really step it up this Saturday.

Anyone know if NCC's game will have a video stream online?

Yes, NC17 already committed to televising/streaming all North Central home playoff games.

Last Saturday, I was browsing through some of the video feeds trying to watch some of the games of interest to me. I was blocked in some cases where fees or registration was required. I feel that the CCIW offers terrific video streaming. NC17 does a great job with the video for the North Central games, and the play by play guy is pretty good too. Wheaton and Elmhurst offer good video feeds as well. All at no cost. Now, we just need NPU to add video streaming.

We had it last year. We were forced to cut back to audio only because more sports are being webcast this year by NPU, and something had to give in the marketing department's budget. I'm hopeful that we'll be back to both audio and video next season, because Mike Conway wants to make it a priority -- even if the team has to raise money in-house to make it happen.

The CCIW All-Conference votes are in:

Even though I'm an NCC guy and would have been happy for Thorne, I'm very happy to see NPU's Conway selected as CCIW Coach of the Year. Well deserved.

Stanek won OPOY, Dierking won DPOY.

One thing that really jumps out at me: 11 of the 12 NCC 1st Team All Conference selections are seniors (and 13 of 16 overall). LOTS of talent that will need to be replenished going in to next season.

Congrats to all of the players on the list.

Congrats to Shane Dierking and Spencer Stanek!  I got to know Soencer a bit over the past summer and his focus and hard work were impressive.  He was on a mission.   As far as the Coach of the year award, Conway absolutely deserved the award!  Congrats to him!

Congrats to the All-Conference Honorees.  Yes, lots of talent graduating.  It will be a new scene, a new league next fall.  Maybe somebody can catch up with NCC next season.

Conway deserves the award, certainly, but a bit surprised Thorne didn't get it again.

Stanek was outstanding all season.

I have no problem with Conway receiving coach of the year. But, I thought the award was automatically given to the Conference champion.  Was I incorrect, or did it change?

If it did change it is for the better!!

I think the talk a couple of weeks ago was that it SEEMED as if the award was automatically given to the conference champ, not that it was actually so. I may be wrong on that.

It actually used to say that the coach of the conference champion was the COY in the CCIW football handbook.  Before the CCIW site changed a few years ago, links to the handbooks for each sport were posted on the CCIW site.  I actually really liked that because the handbooks talked about all sorts of things from limits on viewing other schools live, to when CCIW games had to be scheduled, to what was required to provide to the opposing teams.  Now that the handbooks are no longer available on the website, a change could have been made, and there is not a way to verify it outside of getting your hands on a handbook directly.
