Just so we can see the data, from the NCAA website these two categories and the leaders are:

Pass Efficiency:

Spencer Stanek, NCC 197.5
Reed Florence, Witt    194.8
Kevin Burke, UMU       192.3
--------------
Erik Peterson, Bethel  171.6
John Kelly, UWP          156
Mark Myers, JCU          153.4
Johnny West, Franklin 151.5

Points Responsible for:

Reed Florence, Witt       276
Johnny West, Franklin   264
Kevin Burke, UMU          258
Spencer Stanek, NCC    252

Please explain points responsible for and how it is impacted by a balanced offense.  Also, where are TDs, INTs, INT/Attempt, etc?

I don't know about the other guys, but Stanek has thrown  36 TDs  1 Int and almost 75% completion rate.

Anyone close to those numbers?

Seriously though, 75% with a 36/1 ratio is a dream season for a QB. That's Bill Borchert territory.

I looked up two for comparison:

Reed Florence (Whitt) 36 TDs 6 Ints  68%

Kevin Burke (UMU)    35 TDs 6 Ints  63%

Daily Herald article on yesterday's NCC football game:

https://www.dailyherald.com/article/20131123/sports/711239781/

Among the many outstanding performances:

* DE Alex Tripp with an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, half a sack, and 8 tackles
* Zack Pattat with 103 rushing yards on only FOUR attempts
* Peter Sorenson with 2 receiving TDs. He now has 14 for the season, one behind the all-time record.
* Kevin Schroeder with a blocked punt which was run in for a TD from the 29 by Jason Callahan.
* NCC did not throw single pass in the 2nd half after 17 in the 1st half, 4 of which went for TDs.
* The Cards with 557 total yards to set a new season record with 5.585.

By the way, see that guy who is third in passing yards?  Seventeenth in passing efficiency?  Ninth in completion percentage?

He's coming to B-W this weekend.  Maybe we should worry a bit more about him than about who does and does not get individual accolades.  The level of competition is about to step way, way up.

USee

The passing efficiency rating is designed to take into account completions per attempt, TDs vs INTs, and total yards. For years it was tough to decide (in the NFL and in College) who was the best QB. First people used total yards but that isn't always the best measure for QB's who throw only vs a balanced attack. Then it was switched to completion percentage. That wasn't a true measure because TD's and INTS weren't included. Passing efficiency was developed in college and the NFL to take into account the most relevant statistics. Now the detractors say it measures the best passers vs the best QB's (it doesn't include rushing stats, fumbles, sacks, etc.). The "Points Responsible For" is pretty self explanatory in that the QB gets credit for both rushing and passing TD's (think fantasy football). So 36 TD's is equal to 216 pts and then another 10 rushing TD's would get you to 276.

In my opinion, the biggest question in the Spencer Stanek debate will center around the overall import to their team. SS is the logical choice as 36 TD's on 1 INT, while completing 74% of his passes is pretty incredible. He also ran for 6 TD's and averaged 35 yds per game on the ground. The only other guys in the conversation, IMO, is Wittenberg's Reed Florence and Mt Union's Kevin Burke.

Spencer Stanek:

211-284 (74%), 2,774 yds, 36 TD's, 1 INT, 252 yds per game, 13.1 yds per completion,  197.5% passer efficiency
70 rushes, 386 yds, 5.5 yd avg, 6 TD's, 35.1 yds per game
287.1 total yds per game, 252 pts respsonsible for

Reed Florence:

193-285 (68%), 3,039 yds, 36 TD's, 6 INT, 276 yds per game, 15.7 yds per completion, 194.8% efficiency
122 rushes, 372 yds, 3 yd avg,  9 TD's, 34 yds per game
310 total yds per game, 276 pts responsible for

Kevin Burke:

164-259 (63.3%), 2,745 yds, 35 TD's, 6 INT, 250 yds per game, 16.7 yds per attempt, 192.3 % efficiency
126 rushes, 786 yds, 6.2 yd avg, 8 TD's, 72 yds per game
321 total yds per game, 258 pts responsible for

USee

And "That guy...coming to B-W Stadium" is UWP's John Kelly:

282-415 (68%), 3,377 yds, 34 TD's, 15 INT, 307 yds per game, 11.9 yds per completion, 156% efficiency
60 rushes, 271 yds, 4.5 yd avg, 3 TD's, 20.1 yds per game
327 total yds per game, 222 pts resonsible for

The good news is Florence vs Burke is this weekend and Stanek vs the winner would be in the Semi's. We get to see these three HTH, which will be fun.

--------------
Erik Peterson, Bethel  171.6
John Kelly, UWP          156
Mark Myers, JCU          153.4
Johnny West, Franklin 151.5

Points Responsible for:

Reed Florence, Witt       276
Johnny West, Franklin   264
Kevin Burke, UMU          258
Spencer Stanek, NCC    252

Please explain points responsible for and how it is impacted by a balanced offense.  Also, where are TDs, INTs, INT/Attempt, etc?

I don't know about the other guys, but Stanek has thrown  36 TDs  1 Int and almost 75% completion rate.

Anyone close to those numbers?

I had a year like that on NCAA Football '11 on Xbox.

The good news is Florence vs Burke is this weekend and Stanek vs the winner would be in the Semi's. We get to see these three HTH, which will be fun.

That last sentence might be getting a little ahead of ourselves  ;) :)
