The good news is Florence vs Burke is this weekend and Stanek vs the winner would be in the Semi's. We get to see these three HTH, which will be fun.

That last sentence might be getting a little ahead of ourselves  ;) :)
Hazzben, I can assure that none of the Cardinal fans are looking beyond UWP.  At this point in the year, you look beyond your next opponent at your peril!  That is a rookie mistake, and NCC fans are no longer rookies in the post season process.  I can assure you that Coach Thorne and the young men who will be playing on Saturday are focused on stopping Kelly, Puccini, Whitehead, Bailey, Reit, Robinson, and Zilbar, among others.  I imagine that the folks in Platteville are not thinking about Bethel either.

Just so we can see the data, from the NCAA website these two categories and the leaders are:

Pass Efficiency:

Spencer Stanek, NCC 197.5
Reed Florence, Witt    194.8
Kevin Burke, UMU       192.3
--------------
Erik Peterson, Bethel  171.6
John Kelly, UWP          156
Mark Myers, JCU          153.4
Johnny West, Franklin 151.5

Points Responsible for:

Reed Florence, Witt       276
Johnny West, Franklin   264
Kevin Burke, UMU          258
Spencer Stanek, NCC    252

Please explain points responsible for and how it is impacted by a balanced offense.  Also, where are TDs, INTs, INT/Attempt, etc?

I don't know about the other guys, but Stanek has thrown  36 TDs  1 Int and almost 75% completion rate.

Anyone close to those numbers?

I had a year like that on NCAA Football '11 on Xbox.

LMAO!!!  Were you an All-American? ;D

You bet.   Got the Heisman too.

Fans are not looking ahead? Seriously? You think that makes any difference? Come on man.

Actually, my post wasn't so much a prediction of any outcomes as much as an observation that all the top QB 's are still playing and all the top ones are in the same bracket. Witt, UMU, Bethel, UWP and NCC are the top 5 QB's statistically. They all play vs each other in some version over the next 3 weekends and those outcomes will likely determine the pecking order of the AA selections given the relative season stats. Should be a fun tournament the rest of the way.

USee, I know that all that my Cardinal friends were discussing this weekend was UWP.  NCC fans have already learned their lesson in 2011 about looking too far down the road, and I believe that IWU fans learned that this year.  The Pioneers, as we have all seen in our data analysis, are a strong football team from a fantastic conference.  Their offense reminds me a LOT of the 2008 Franklin Grizzlies that went three rounds into the playoffs.  Chad Rupp had similar numbers, a lot of weapons around him, and the FC defense profile was similar with super athletes.  North Central lost to that team.  Why do you think we would look beyond this year's version of Franklin???  We will leave the long-term prognostication to our Crusader and Titan friends at this point while Cardinal fans focus on one game at a time.

USee

stagg,

Let me help you.  Dierking will have a couple picks, UWP won't come close to stopping The USS Stanek and the Cards will be headed to Minneapolis after a 38-24 win we can all call the Cardinal version of Wehrli Ball.

There you go.  Doesn't that feel better? Now bethel? That's a much different story.  The Cards won't be the favorite in that game.

And I thought Whitewater was playing this year's version of Franklin.  ;D

A couple of questions for you. If I look past Franklin and look forward to the Lnfield game the following week am I adding to Whitewater's chances of losing? And if so, but Whitewater manages to scrape by Franklin in spite of my lack of focus, will I not have actually HELPED the following week given I've added a week of focus to the Wildcats?  ;)

That does feel better!!  Now I can relax this weekend.  I had been worried ever since I had called Miss Cleo and she told me that she couldn't get a feeling on this game unless I paid another $18.95.  ;)

I am not looking past Thursday. Fresh turkey purchased and in the fridge ready to be cooked outdoors on the Big Green Egg and then Friday road trip to Whitewater (stopping at Three Floyds Brewery on the way to purchase libations for the trip).  Football is 2-3 activites down the road!! ;D

I wrote something similar on the WIAC board but SS has been outstanding this year. A couple months back I posted about his penchant for making mistakes in big games. If you look back you can see in 2010 vs UWW Stanek made two key turnovers that changed the game. Vs Wheaton last year he put it on the ground which led to a TD. In the playoffs vs Linfield his 3 picks led to 3 'Cat scores. This year he hasn't done any of those things. He shredded Wheaton and took care of the ball vs IWU. He is now on the big stage and if he plays the way he has all season, the Cards will take their Wehrli-Ball all the way to Alliance and potentially beyond. (sorry Stagg for the look forward). JMO

Be careful with those "libations" you plan to pick up on your way north. The very friendly Wisconsin State Police love nothing more than to stop out of state cars for the slightest infractions. There is an unwritten WI law that says out of staters are not allowed to do the same things WI residents can, such as exceed the speed limit by even the slightest of margins. A perfect example is my brother-in-law, a Minnesota resident, who was recently stopped for going 3 MPH over the limit on his way home from a weekend visit to my mother-in-laws in WI.
Keep your "libations" in the trunk. If they're seen in the car, they will want to check everything including the ashtrays!  :o   >:(

Good advice it appears.  Future daughter in-law behind the wheel.  I will be safely ensconced in the SUV back seat controlling the music and annoying the front seat passengers  LOL

I don't think it would prove to impact UWW's chances one way or another (unless, of course, you are suiting up to play on Saturday and not studying the film!!).  You will have to call Miss Cleo to be sure!!  It does prove, however, that you may have too much time on your hands if you are able to focus on a game that may never occur... I don't think even Miss Cleo will know the answer to that.   :)
