So proud of you Cards and especially the seniors.
I am a NATIONAL Champion, and I refuse to lose!

Congrats to a super NCC team.  What an effort by a team that is worthy of a Stagg Bowl appearance.  Your QB, RB and WR were amazing and played their guts out.
The defense gave an incredible performance.
I wish we could have played you on a dry field and warmer day, it would have been, most likely, even more memorable.
Difference was Burke, but Mount fans are used to seeing him come up big and he has never disappointed. In many ways we are spoiled.  Your fans were terrific and I hope all get home safely as it is very nasty on the roads in the area and all over the state tonight.

Great game and great season, Cardinals. NCC is for real on the national scene. Those were two equal teams playing out there today. Congratulations to all involved in the program and your fans. In my opinion, no more breaking through needed. It is just a matter of time before you are in the Stagg Bowl. Keep doing what you are doing.  Be proud. You are among the elite. Good luck to the seniors. Congratulations to all who have been part of the program.  I know it's a disappointing day, but everyone who has been part of building your program as well as the fans should be very proud today as well.

The question for '14 is whether they can reload.    A lot of seniors on the field today for NCC.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Congrats on a great season, Cardinals!

That was a fantastic game!

I listened on WONC and they did a nice job!

I really thought NCC had it.

That was a classic game. Two heavyweights punching it out. Came down to the mistakes on the kicking game. Outcome wasn't the one I wanted but those kids showed tons of heart and never stopped fighting. I'm sure they'll be back next year.

Congratulations to NCC for a great season and a heartbreaking end to be sure. I thought those two teams are very even and the game reflected that. So many big plays and nearly big plays for both teams right down to the final play of the game for NCC. It was great for the fans to watch. Sorenson was unreal. Stanek made some tough throws in those conditions and Dierking, Tripp and Slezak took turns making huge plays.

For UMU Burke is the real deal. BJ Mitchell is a tough little runner. #31 and #77 stood out to me on defense. While the conditions were less than ideal, I thought both teams adjusted very well to them and did what they had to do. On a dry field this game would have been an NBA basketball score for sure.

Good luck Raiders in the Stagg.

A tip of the hat to NCC.  Great team, great game.  I thought you had it until Burke worked his majic on the last drive.  Hope we'll see you again next year.

What a fun game to watch!

Congrats, NCC, on a fantastic season and a fantastic effort today.

I will direct this one at you Gregory-----maybe you can appreciate it.

But at the turn of the century, I told my old teammate (a long time board toller who declines to post). that if we could win one CCIW title I could someday die happy.  That was coming off another 2 win or so season.  I never could have dreamed NC having this success.  I have enjoyed every minute of this run.  So while many of the Cardinal faithful are down tonight, I am not.  The guys represented themselves and the CCIW well.  Will we ever get over the mountain?  I don't know and I don't care.  Every game is a thrill for me.

Special props to AD Jim Miller, my teammate and roommate at NC.  A true Cardinal who loves NC more than anyone.  It is no coincidence that we went to the final four in football and basketball in the same year under his direction.  I could bore all off you with all the sacrifices he and his family have made for the institution, but I won't.  I will simply say Thank You, Jim (I know you read the board), for everything.

And thank you to all the CCIW posters sent the warm wishes to NC.  Let's keep it going as a league, and compete at the highest levels.

Any team that makes it this far - plays this well - overcomes all the obstacles - and the weather - has nothing to hang their heads about. NCC fans should be proud of the way the Cards played today. It was gutsy and they had every reason to quit: starting RB injured, passing game couldn't do what they wanted, playing at Mount and being down 2 scores and all of that - but NCC played great. Be proud of them.

Thank you for the kind words.  To even be considered with the likes of UMU was unimaginable 10 years ago.  We are all very proud of the program, the school and the league.

Oh, so close!!!  Wow.  I wanted so much for NC to end the Purple Hex once and for all, but it was not to be.  That was one hell of a game!  We'll definitely see NC next year deep in the playoffs as the Cardinals were monsters out there today!  Still shaking my head.....

Congrats to NCC on an truly outstanding season, great game vs. the toughest in DIII, Mount Union.  Sounds like an absolutely fabulous game.  Congrats again to Coach Thorne and all the NC players, coaches, fans -- for representing the CCIW so well.  Everyone in the CCIW will be back to chasing you hard again next year.  For this year, a superb job, a superb season.
