One of my best customers is in Whitewater so frequent the city at least once a month.  Great people with small town charm.  Glad to see Franklin play IWU. I think that is a quality non-conf. game for both teams.  I remember when Elmhurst started to man up and add some stronger teams rather than CUC or Benedictine.

Yep. This is not starting up for Franklin, though. They've played Mount Union the last two years and played Whitewater the year before that.

and Butler University the last two years as well.  I believe what 79 Jay really meant is that is good to see IWU man-up.  Franklin has been "manning up" for years.

No offense to the HCAC, but if Franklin wants to test themselves before the playoffs, they almost have to look outside their conference (minus last year's hiccup to Bluffton of course).

Whereas IWU has its fair share of "playoff-ready" games during its conference schedule (i.e. Wheaton and NCC).

Well, Strength of schedule shouldn't be an issue next year!  Cards take a big step up in the non conference schedule adding Platteville.

I only deal in D3 teams. :)

Platteville was a very senior-heavy team. I suspect UWP will be battling for third in that league at best.

Good point. This matchup should give us a good idea of whether UWP has a system or if they are a program overly reliant on a talented class.

Even if Platteville does turn out to be down from where they were last year, I'll still take St. Norbert, Platteville and Stevens Point over the Redlands, Bethel (TN), Olivet slate that the Cardinals played three years ago.

Redlands is expected to be good again next year. The main problem with keeping that series is the cost. It is just too expensive. Agree with the Bethel, Olivet games as any with Aurora, Benedictine, etc. Would have liked to see them schedule Franklin, John Carroll or a MIAC school next season.

Redlands is clearly the outlier in that trio -- I was looking at it in aggregate.  One quality opponent and two tasty morsals is not as beneficial of a diet as three hearty opponents.

And I hear you on the expense of the Redlands game.  I think there is a lot to be said for having one air travel opponent every four years as a sort of readiness exercise for potential postseason scenarios, but it's really easy for me to spend other people's money for stuff like that.

I saw something that said Coach Adams at Elmhurst is joining the Syracuse staff. Big blow to Elmhurst if this is true.

Check the item near the top in this link.

The discussion about this in chatroom syracusefans.com, which gave a big thumbs-down to SU's hiring of Joe Adam, included a post that said, "All 12 Elmhurst fans must be really bummed about this." It reminds me again why I've grown to really dislike D1 sports.
