Langhirst ghost,

Your last post has a conspicuous correlation to Elmhursts last lead in a CCIW game.

izzy stradlin

For some reason Reece Butler, Andrew Bowers and Peltz have gotten snaps at QB for Wheaton in the first half so far.

Langhorst_Ghost

17-10 Jays at the half.

Huge drive to close the half for Warden and the Cards - multiple 4th and 3rd down conversions on their way to split the lead.

Jays have already surpassed the Cards' D average allowance for rush yardage, lead by the league's best back, Josh Williams.

Second half should be fun!
It's a Great Day to be a Jay!

Langhorst_Ghost

2 minutes into the half the Cards answer.  Thorne certainly lit a fire under them - a supremely efficient scoring drive.

Langhorst_Ghost

3 second half possesions, 3 tuddies for NCC.

Killer Jays turnover deep in own territory gave Cards lead.

EC misses chip shot FG late, NCC back in control.
It's a Great Day to be a Jay!

Langhorst_Ghost

Gutsy reverse pass on 3rd and forever connects two plays ahead of NCC moving back in front very late.

Brutal peel back block in the back to spring Sorenson's throw goes uncalled.

One more chance for EC. Jays offense nearing 500 yards.
It's a Great Day to be a Jay!

REALITY kicked in Usee.  His Kool-Aid pitcher ran out.   ::)

No. Life happens.

Watching EC live right now - playing with more urgency and more passion than NCC deep into the 2Q. Jays controlling the pace - far cry from last weeks effort - Planz has got these young men prepared and focused today.

Could be a special senior day building at Langhorst...

Open mouth, insert foot!   Great day to be a Cardinal!

Langhorst_Ghost

Up and down season comes to a valiant end on senior day at Langhorst.

NCC offense too powerful in the second half for an upstart effort from the Jays.

Jays outperform their predicted finish, land in the top half of the league in Coach Planz's first year.

Last Saturday this fall for EC...now Thorne and the South DuPage birds wait...
It's a Great Day to be a Jay!

North Central holds off the Jays by 7 at Langhorst.  Peter Sorenson is the MAN.

Elsewhere today:

Wheaton 21, Carthage 2
Illinois Wesleyan 35, North Park 21

Augustana leads Millikin 45-6 with five and change remaining.

Now the Cards wait and see whether their body of work is good enough to merit a Pool C berth.

A Platteville win over Oshkosh will help the Cardinals' credentials significantly given North Central's head-to-head victory over the Pioneers.

There is a dusting of light snow on the field at Platteville today -- Oshkosh currently leads 10-7 with 5 minutes remaining in the third quarter.

The videostream of this game has no announcer -- just the crowd, PA announcer, and officials.  No disrespect to Gregory and his golden pipes, but it's not a bad way to watch a football game!

Final IWU 35 NPU 21.  A good win for the Titans who played well today on D and O.  They have found their future RB in Austin Harrell.  Likely 150+  yards today and other big plays.  Warner had a good day with 3 rushing TDs.  As smart as all you gurus and bums are in this room, this game easily could have been 42-14 and then you'll would have owed Dr. Ypsi a bigtime apology.  He would have had his predicted 4 TD smackdown, and Q would have looked "silly."  As it was, the outcome was closer to my thought of 10 points, an IWU win.  Conway to Conway a great combination and elder Conway is indeed a good QB.  NPU is much improved, but the Titans pretty much dominated this game, leading 28-zip, or 28-7.  It was cold and a few of us braved the elements and stayed to the bitter end.

Congrats and good wishes to all the IWU seniors.  Sadly, they go out with a 4-6 season, one of the first losing seasons for the Titan program in a long time.  With Warner, Harrell, Checchin and others coming back, I'm still pretty optimistic that the Titan ship will be righted next season and that the Titan program will return to its winning ways.

Now we wait for an NCC bid?  They didn't exactly overwhelm EC today.  My guess is no bid.

Good luck to WC (and to NCC too if they get in) for the tournament.

Let the basketball begin -- in a few hours.  Here comes a very good Augie team.

P.S.  Titan women's soccer had a big win today, 2-1 over Hope, in the NCAA regional tournament, advancing further, finally getting past WC and advancing further this season than Wheaton.  Congrats to the Titan women's soccer team.  ms

Mr. Ypsi

Mark, the Viking qb is the younger Conway, not the elder.  TD (what a great name for a qb!) is only a sophomore; Greg (or someone) is Dakota a junior or senior?

And I hope that some of the Norm Eash bashers will note that, well within FG or 'throw to the end zone' range, he had the team take the knee twice.  Whatever other faults some may allege about him, I can't recall him ever running up a score.  (Unlike Woody Hayes, who, when OSU had gotten a TD against UM to move the margin to 48 (with under a minute remained) was asked by a reporter why he went for 2; his reply "Because I couldn't go for 3."  It became a costly 'rub it in the faces' moment, as indeed UM did fire Bump Elliot, but some guy named Bo replaced him!  The very next season Woody had what he always considered to be the best team he ever had; Bo Schembechler's team beat him 24-12.)

kiko

Platteville and Oshkosh ended regulation tied 10-10.

Both teams convert TDs and PATs in the first and second overtimes -- we head to the third OT tied at 24.

kiko

In the third OT: Platteville's drive stalls out at the 18 and they kick a FG.

Oshkosh fumbles on their opening play, but recovers.  On the next play, their back pops a 23 yard TD run.

Final: Oshkosh 30, Platteville 27 (3OT).

-----

In the good-news-for-North-Central department, Bethel lost to 4-6 Augsburg today in OT.  Bethel's credentials were much stronger than the Cards' across the selection metrics, but their hopes are effectively done now.

FishHack76

Heck of an effort from Elmhurst in NCC's 38-31 victory and nice resiliency from the Cardinals. Trips to Elmhurst are sometimes tough for NCC no matter the Bluejays' record.
