OK, then, enlighten us with some of that deeper analysis by telling us what the Cardinals do on the other 3% of their offensive plays. Dropkick? ;)

Yep. I fat fingered it.  Oops.

Actual forecast calls for chance of rain in DPC Saturday.  Perhaps there will be thunder?   :P

Was up in RI yesterday to watch the Titans ruin the AC Homecoming.  It was a hard-fought win for the TITANS and the O didn't play as well as it has in recent weeks.  But, IWU could have won this game by 28 or even 35-7.  Titans drove and had an INT on a tipped ball in the end zone, and Tyrell Bolden ran a punt back about 65 yards for a TD, only to have it called back by a penalty.  Yes, the TITAN O does try to do too much with AC15, though he's made some pretty big plays all year.  I'd love to see more touches, runs and bubble screens to Maurice.  His runs on Saturday were electrifying, though you have to give credit, as he did in the Pgraph, to his blockers, setting up some pretty good lanes.  The run he scored on from scrimmage was incredible, with his speed just slicing through the Augie D, with acceleration you rarely see in D3.  Titan D played well, having several key stops in the redzone, esp. the one before the half.  Agree with what has been said about the Titans D backs and linebackers.  They are very good, very active, very experienced.  Warner would do well to spread the ball around a bit more and give up on high-risk trickeration plays, especially in the flats, perhaps throw the ball down the field a bit more.

I was out of town traveling for work the past few days and just catching up on posts made.  IWU70 - I have to take exception to your characterization of the Augie/IWU game.  I'm not sure what game you were watching, but I have no idea how you post that IWU could have won the game by 28.  IMO, IWU was outplayed in that game and Augie should have won.  You point to two plays where IWU had a punt called back and a tipped ball for an INT, but you completely ignore the fact that Augie was the team the drove into the red zone 3 times, twice had a first and goal, and came away with no points.  Everything that I have heard and seen is that the catch at the end of the half for Augie should have been ruled a TD instead of an incompletion.  There is a nice picture of it on Augie's website. But the ref called it incomplete, and that's the way it goes. Making a comment that infers that IWU was or should have been 28 points better than Augie last Saturday may be wishful thinking, but it no way reflects the reality of what occurred on the field.

Augie6, as your own coach said, "that's football."  I couldn't see that play in the end zone from where I was so can't comment.  The ref was right there in good position and made the call immediately.  Yes, both teams had their chances, both teams got denied.  Both teams could have scored more but it turned out 21-7 with your coverage team giving up a big one for sure.  I think the difference was the way the Titan D turned your guys back several times from the red zone, no doubt.  We'll surely take the W and you surely have the L.  So it goes in the CCIW.  Any road win, by whatever score, is a welcome and good win in this league.  Now we'll see if the Titans can play better -- esp. vs. WC and NCC -- and have a truly great season.  Looks like at least 8-2 to me, perhaps better.  Time will tell whether the Titans can rise to the occasion and go 9-1 or 10-0 and make the D3 playoffs.  We have both of those big games vs. the other contenders at home, so the schedule lines up well, positively for us.   I was impressed with how tough Augie played our guys, esp. impressed with your elusive QB, but we did a pretty good job on D and contained him pretty well.  Sorry to ruin your Homecoming, but so it goes in the CCIW.  Almost no wins are easy wins.

The big concern Wheaton defenders have this week is slowing down Austin Bruenig. Behind a very good offensive line Bruenig has average 7.9 yes per carry in relief of O'Shayne Brown who is out for the year.  Bruenig is as fast as any RB I have seen and very explosive through the hole.  If you watch the Carthage highlights online he makes 2 TD runs that are ridiculous.  He beats several Carthage defenders who have superior angles and they don't even touch him.  He will be a huge challenge for the Thunder D.

Looking at the IWU/EC game, I am looking at a few things.  Whether EC wins or loses, is not my main focus.  I want to see if the team is going to be able to move the ball against a stellar defense.  What will Elmhurst do if/when the running games go silent?  Who's going to step up?  Can the Elmhurst defense get IWU's offense off the field?

For IWU- This could be a "trap game" where on paper Elmhurst is quite weaker than WC/NC coming up on the slate,  but if they come to Langhorst thinking the game is already in hand,  we all know what could possibly happen.

I still think IWU will be in good shape,  but really looking for signs of some development and "future hope" from the Elmhurst players and coaches.

Elmhurst definitely could be a trap game for IWU, I agree.  Some times certain teams struggle with certain stadiums.  I am not sure if it is the case with IWU but Wheaton has struggled to play well at Elmhurst.  If IWU doesn't travel well it could be a long Saturday.  ...I just wouldn't put any money on it.  :)

After the train-wreck that last season turned out to be, I seriously doubt that IWU is gonna get caught overlooking anyone, at least until all players from that team have graduated! :o

This is definitely a key match-up in the game.  Jeff Thorne has said Bruenig is the fastest player they have ever had in their program at North Central. Wheaton's D is excellent overall but against the run is where I think there are the strongest.

Forecast is not showing rain for gametime anymore but instead 60's and wind.

Peltz is listed as the starter and I don't think this means he is playing but Wheaton has updated recent changes such as Greenlee taking over at DE and Puknaitis moving up to RB2.  Hunniford is listed as QB1 for NCC but I expect to see more of Warden.

I would expect IWU to be very ready to play at EC, taking care of business.  I'd expect some breakout performances from some folks who haven't done as much up to now -- perhaps Javorka or Austin Harrell. Warner is playing very well with high percentages on passing and few TOs.  Titans just have so many O weapons now, so you don't know where the big plays are going to come from.  D has to play well, and special teams prevent game-shifting big plays.  Seems the Titans should be a 2-3 TD favorite in this one.

I still have WC over NCC by 2 TDs.

Jim Jodat is still the CCIW's career rushing leader, forty years after he played his last game for Carthage. That's a remarkably durable record.

Agreed that Bruenig is a talented RB. However, I'd say the NCC run attack vs the Wheaton D will be more about that stout OLine of NCC. They are way bigger, way more talented than anything Wheaton has seen so far. Do I think Wheaton's front 7 is up to the challenge? I do, I think Wheaton has a very nice blend of power and speed that will result in a classic heavyweight fight.

IMO, this game will be more about whether the NCC D can stop the Wheaton O. Statistically speaking as well as from my personal eye test, I say "advantage Wheaton". Which then leads me to the wildcard of the game, Justin Hunniford. I think NCC has more of a chance to find success on the arm of Hunniford as opposed to the legs of Breunig/Warden. I'm of the belief that Hunniford is a special talent and he will cause headaches for Wheaton (and the rest of the CCIW) for 3 more years. If NCC chooses to wait till he's a Soph or even a Jr to unleash him, well that's A-OK with me.

2 great programs with a ton of mutual respect for each other fighting it out for the Little Brass Bell and a share of the conference lead...Does it get any better? Looking forward to an electric atmosphere and a great game tomorrow. I've rounded up as many crusadering Thunder fans I could find... We will be there and we will be rowdy!

It's almost game time!!!
