The snow is a 6:1 ratio 1" of water to 6" of snow.  Normal is 1:10.
This is a very slippery heavy snow not unlike the Mount Union NCC game.
NCC played Bethel in a very cold dry icy field that year and tackled great.
But in the wet snow at Mount some of the defensive players were having a hard time and kept falling down without being touched.  Also every time they tackled high they slid off the Mount ball carrier.
Footing will play a big roll in the game today.

GO THUNDER!!!!!

Right on cue . . . tacklers sliding right off Bowers and Olateju . . . Thunder up after 2 plays 7-0.

Bowers starting instead of Peltz -- because of the conditions perhaps?

Why did it take over a quarter for the OC's to understand that any lateral play has ZERO chance of success with multiple inches of snow on the ground?  Line it up and POUND IT.  That is the only chance of effective play today.

Lakeland with -4 yards in the first half.  3 INT's, one returned for a TD by Wheaton.

Great question.

There is a correction on Lakeland yards in first half: -16 on 26 plays.  Understandable that the yardage wasn't correct, given you couldn't even see the yard marks.

2nd half just starting, looks like the grounds department has completely cleared the field.  With a lightening of the snow, maybe it will be closer to normal game in the 2nd half.

70+ yard punt return for TD by Wheaton called back on penalty well behind the play.  Pointless penalty.

Bad news for Wheaton, Peltz appears to have left the game in first half with another injury.

Lakeland with -23 yards in the game with 5:20 left in 3rd.  Wheaton now with 2nd team defense in the game. 41-0.

2nd team offense in as well.  Wheaton trying to avoid any further injuries to starters, if that is possible.

Yeah . . . announcers say he turned an ankle, getting x-rays.   The kid can't catch a break this season.

Let's hope he doesn't HAVE a break re: his ankle. Hopefully, it will just be a minor sprain.

Nice job Thunder.  Now begins the proverbial UW gauntlet beginning with the defending champ Warhawks coming to McCully.  Campus gets very quiet over Thanksgiving, lots of students leave for home.  So let's have a big community turnout.

Let's roll Thunder!

Well... it was pretty quiet today, no thanks to the weather.  I would have been there, but it took me two hours to return from Barrington for my son's swim meet.  By then it was 41-0 and I was exhausted.

I will be there screaming my head off for the UWW game.

He was on crutches in street clothes during the 2nd half.   Takes some of the shine off this win.  I feel bad for Johnny.  He looked so good last week against Carthage.   With him healthy, at Wheaton, I thought there was more than a decent chance of Wheaton beating UWW.  Now I'm not sure, but hey, MSU just knocked off the defending champs without their QB1 Connor Cook.
