Wheaton v Whitewater. This should be fun.

Congrats on a great opening game Wheaton.  I do hope Peltz can recover in time to play Saturday.
Will someone familiar with the rules please let us visitors know the tailgating situation?
Thanks

One of my pet peeves is posters who say 'both teams played in the same weather conditions'.  Well, DUH, but that doesn't negate the fact that those conditions might affect one team's strengths or weaknesses far more than the other.  Case in point: Lakeland @ Wheaton.

I don't think Lakeland would win that game under September conditions, but I suspect the MOV might have been greatly affected by the blizzard.  Taking away Lakeland's passing game is to take away the only 'puncher's chance' they had.  Add to that the vast superiority of Wheaton's lines (since trying to go wide was suicide), and the up-the-middle rout was on.

So, in the unlikely event that next Saturday's game is a weather repeat of today, Wheaton or UWW?

Gotta believe the weather will not be doing Lakeland any favors this weekend.  While both teams play under the same conditions (no kidding Sherlock!), Lakeland is clearly more pass heavy.  Initial forecast is for 1-4 inches of snow on Friday night through Saturday morning.

Temperatures for Saturday are listed as a high of 34, with a low of 11!  Game time should be in the upper 20's with 20-25 mph winds.  Not great passing conditions.  Some weather reports actually list possibility of snow during the game and 3-6 inches of snow.

Did I not state or at least imply that it will likely impact Lakeland more?   Furthermore did I not take a self-deprecating shot at myself for stating the obvious.  >:(  Sorry to ding your "pet peeve".

Lakeland had a very potent, but one dimensional offense and the significant snow took their only real chance to win the game.  That said Wheaton had a very balanced attack throughout the entire season. Is it not fair to say the weather impacted Wheaton's effectiveness against Lakeland though in a different way.  Is it not possible Wheaton's offense would have been even more devastating if they weren't forced to into a line up and pound the rock?

Isn't the fact a team can beat you either by the run or pass a criteria by which you could be identified as a better team?  The weather took away Lakeland's pass attack... but then that is all they had.  Wheaton found a way to win easily despite the weather.

I was not including you among the 'posters'.  And, as I said, I would have expected Wheaton to win in any weather conditions.  And as you said, the weather took away Lakeland's only real chance (however slight) to win the game.  We seem to be saying the same thing in different terms. ;)

And, yes, it is possible that the weather also hampered Wheaton from scoring even more, but in terms of W - L, it took away the ONLY (faint) chance that Lakeland had.  I'd count the weather as a Wheaton plus.

Now, about next week (in the unlikely chance that the weather is the same)?

Yeah, but Mugsy said it first, which is probably why he gave you the frowny guy. You tried to steal his thunder, so to speak. ;)

When it comes to UW-W and the playoffs, no expounding or fantasies are necessary.

The only difference between this year and every other year UW-W has been in the playoffs since 2005 is who we play in the Stagg Bowl.

Truth.

For the Warhawks, yes...but probably not so much for Wheaton. But, at the end of the day, it should be a good learning experience for the Thunder!!

Good morning, Gentlemen,
Hope you are all well.  We have just experienced the worst college football attendance record since before #33 went to UWW in 03. Several family health issues including a difficult loss and a new baby grandson, (weather,) has prevented us from going to all but the home opener for Carroll so far   :'(  Soooo, very excited for Saturday's game, being played at Wheaton, in the FIB's, "backyard."  Bet the Thunder has a kickass tailgate atmosphere!  Oh......wait.......    ;D ;) 8-)

Are you Wheaties just going to sit there and take all of this?

Take what? A bunch of arrogant fans sitting behind a bunch of rings? They are the champs. No one else has a chance. So be it.  The Thunder are the next team up for the slaughter.

That's about all the analysis you get from that group.

That wasn't very nice.

Seriously, is there a tailgate area?

The Billy Graham Center parking lot is just to the west of the football stadium.

Does anyone know if Wheaton has a game next Saturday? If so, against whom?

I think they are playing one of the UW schools that is not UW-Madison.

formerd3db

Speaking about UW schools, Wisconsin (Madison) lost a tough one yesterday.  But..how about that Northwestern team?  Not bad at 9-2 already and they should beat Illinois next week (although that is not a given as when those two schools play, it more often a tough game.  If NU wins, that makes them a neat 10-2 and will probably get one of the better bowls.
