Pizano's Pizza is Rudy Malnati's place in the Chicago pizza wars. Same butter crust as the rest of the Malnati's family with a less crowded experience.  We're a few blocks from the Madison store and it's our favorite (walking past the croweded Giordano's we can see out of our condo window).  Favorite waitress is a former Ed Debevic's server.  As a concession to old age and weight control we go with a reasonably sized thin crust most of the time.

CCIW All Conference teams announced.  Congrats to all who were honored!

I'm disappointed that Chaun Maiava wasn't named to the first team. I understand that the last-place team in the league isn't going to get any breaks when All-CCIW teams are announced, but I can say with as much objectivity as I can muster that he was one of the four best linebackers in the league this season. (I think that Jack Asquini of Augustana can make a similar case, at least based upon the one game in which I saw him.)

I wonder when was the last time, if ever, that this league handed out a POY award to a freshman in this sport. Rutter is certainly as impressive a quarterback to come down the pike as the CCIW has seen in a long time.

If I was drafting LB's from the CCIW this year (and this LB crew is deep with talent) I would pick Maiava  either 3rd or 4th. I agree he has 1st team talent.

Congrats to Caleb Ashby for DPOY honors. Much deserved. As the top defense in the league Wheaton was going to get the award and whomever Swider nominated (either Ashby or Greenlee) would be worthy. Both those guys were dominant in every game this year.

Crazy considering the person who likely would have been starting (Hunniford) was very highly touted and played really well as a true freshman last year. Makes you wonder what's in store for him next year.

To highlight the key battle of the game this weekend for Huntington v Wheaton I point to these statisitics:

Rushing yards for Huntington in their game last Saturday v Averett: 399

Total rushing yards Wheaton's #2 ranked Rush Defense has given up in 10 games: 465

Having watched them on video they remind me of Carthage with their quick short passing game.  They also seemed to run a lot of sweeps along with a good inside running game with some quick dive plays.
IMHO:  The key to Wheaton or NCC in this bracket is the offense line getting off the ball quick.  Hunington has some quick lineman and
looking up ::) in the bracket MHB linemen are grease lightning quick.  Meaning their athletes not just  big blobs of power.  The MHB sweep this year is the quickest to get to the outside I have ever seen in D3.  Thats the type of football I remember playing when some of us linemen were athletes that were also asked to play in the backfield.

I wouldn't be shocked if he transferred.

First time I have ever seen a long snapper get POW honors. Those guys usually only get recognized when they mess something up.
