I'm disappointed that Chaun Maiava wasn't named to the first team. I understand that the last-place team in the league isn't going to get any breaks when All-CCIW teams are announced, but I can say with as much objectivity as I can muster that he was one of the four best linebackers in the league this season. (I think that Jack Asquini of Augustana can make a similar case, at least based upon the one game in which I saw him.)

I wonder when was the last time, if ever, that this league handed out a POY award to a freshman in this sport. Rutter is certainly as impressive a quarterback to come down the pike as the CCIW has seen in a long time.

Crazy considering the person who likely would have been starting (Hunniford) was very highly touted and played really well as a true freshman last year. Makes you wonder what's in store for him next year.

I wouldn't be shocked if he transferred

Justin Hunniford, Wheaton graduates it's top 2 QBs... just sayin'... ;D

That would not be ideal!

I really hope the Wheaton coaches figure out a way to get JP11 on the field for extended periods during these playoffs. Never mind he is a senior captain with a lot of game experience,   I believe he is one of the best 11 players on offense and clearly can make plays at at least 2 positions. It doesn't make sense to leave a player as talented as him off the field.

Couldn't agree more Usee...

Forecast calls for winds of 25-35 mph this Saturday. I was already hoping WC stuck to the 60/40 run/pass formula, but now maybe even 70/30 would be more appropriate

USee,

You have been hoping for that all year.  That could be the secret weapon unveiled for the playoffs.

I'm going out on a limb and say that Huntington has never played in conditions like they're going to see today!   The wind will be a huge factor today for both games.  Puts a lot of the game on the O and D lines.

Congrats to NCC and Wheaton.

I said it to a friend of mine last week when the bracket was released: I have a bad feeling about next weekend.

1989 was the last time two CCIW teams met in the playoffs. Pretty rare event. The good news is that we will have a CCIW quarterfinalist.

Stagg Again!!

Interestingly enough, fully half  of the remaining field are from the four Midwestern Power conferences  -- CCIW (NCC, WC), WIAC (UWW, UWO), MIAC (STU, STJ), and OAC (JC, MUC).  Congratulations to the Cardinals and Crusaders on their first round wins.  This should certainly be a fun week!

Stagg Again!!

Also, congratulations goes out to the NCC men's cross country team for winning its 17th national championship today in dominating fashion. 🏆

Hats off to Wheaton for a very well played gamed today. Wish we could have given you a better game especially that nightmare 5 minute stretch in the 2nd. We just made too many mistakes and Wheaton jumped all over every one of them.

Not a very successful trip but the food has been good for the most part. A three hour delay on our flight got us into Ohare at 1am this morning and to the motel a little after 2. Mixed reviews at Portillos as my italian beef with extra gravy and hot peppers was delicious but they must cook their chicken and fish in the same oil as the wife's chicken sandwich tasted a lot like a filet-o-fish. The 'Lou' at Malnoti's for dinner this evening was excellent and the marinara with the three cheese bread appetizer was terrific. Pretty much exhausted right now and about to crash and rest up to fly home tomorrow.

Best of luck to Wheaton next round.

I a man hopeful the old saying about how difficult it is to beat a team twice in a season becomes the prophecy for this week.  It's going to take a mistake free game to win.
