I am guessing every home game for MHB in Belton is a recruiting opportunity. But this is Wheaton's first time playing in TX so many schools they have visited mulitple times over the years can come watch them play live against a great TX team. I am also pretty sure they won't compete that often for players given the mandate of each school.

I just hope the weather isn't as DOOM AND GLOOM as it's looking.  Cool/cold, wet (100% chance now...) and t-storms likely.  Yuck.

Or USee it could be a showcase for UMHB to recruit good ol' Texas boys to take a look at Mary Hardin-Baylor..  ;D Either way, if Wheaton uses this to their recruiting then that is smart thinking, Your in town, Your in a Quarterfinal, your playing a top tier program and can look really good. Interesting note, UMHB only recruits in Texas, we have had only two players on varsity who came outside the state, one from Washington D.C. (Duane Thompson) and Ajay Fenaynay from Riverside CA. Otherwise they are all central Texas boys, not even North Texas, which surprises me since North Texas produces the great great football programs at the HS level. But if you consider, no travel home in another state for thanksgiving and other holidays, just a hour or so away, As seniors they can see how their prospective school is doing and even go to games on your own, local coaches know the program and they play the Texas Smash mouth style of play Coach Fred likes.
This game has a TON of interest from other programs as well, Southwestern University (Who is joining the ASC next season) many of their juniors are going to attend.. I also imagine HSU and maybe even ETBU could have coaches or players attend, just to see this matchup. You'll see that other school, you know our baby brother (Baylor University) there will be baylor green being worn there too...Cru fans sort of treat them like our crazy cat lady aunt... oh look who's here...As we get closer this is shaping up to be a great matchup, Wheaton is quick, gonna have to work to keep that quickness in check or they can put the hurt on us...So good on the Wheaton coaching and recruiting staff..

Slightly different recruiting model for Wheaton.  Here is a breakdown on players by state on Wheaton's Roster:

My question (and I'm not sure I have a good answer) is "Does bad weather favor either team?"

I would answer not really, except, the last time we had an event like this (now things may be different so I'm not saying this will happen) but there were rain and lighting warnings which delayed the game, and finally because of the storm sitting on Belton they postponed the game to the next day, sunday afternoon.

It was no fun for anyone, both teams came out flat the second day, it just felt like a fuzzy day...just not good so I am hoping this is not the case, I hope for a rain hold off to get the game in, but it will be wet and cold...hands of receivers might sting some more.

Sorry, but this is hilarious.  For a team that played in Round 1 of the 2015 playoffs, 50 °F and rain is downright balmy.

that TLU game was disappointing to me because my daughter was down for preview weekend and we spent most of the day on Saturday holed up in the van. I had to leave Sunday morning early to preach so I missed the last half of the game, I won't be there Saturday. I'm officiating a wedding but I hope they get it in.
USee, I'm not sure if it favors anyone. Wheaton should be okay and this is just Texas weather. we're used to it. don't necessarily like it, but used it. the one exception seems to be people who don't think it gets cold in texas because they're from _______. it gets cold in texas. bring cold weather gear. wet and cold with wind makes for misery.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

it is not the same experience. I promise, wally. ask north Carolina Wesleyan about their experience.in Belton. I've lived in northern Europe and the mountain west. I've been in the northern US/great lakes region in winter. the coldest most miserable I've ever been was in central Texas.

No, I get it.  Chill + wet + wind is awful to sit/stand around in.  I'm not suggesting elements may have no impact at all.  I just don't think it matters at all to the players from Chicago who have plenty of experience playing deep into the postseason and have that very specific blizzard experience just one year ago.  It's just not going to cause a short circuit to this group in the way that it might a team from Southern California or Alabama.

I am pretty sure that if Wheaton does/doesn't win, the weather is not going to be the reason.
