Man, 35 seniors back on the strength of last season?  That sounds like it'll be painful for the rest of the CCIW not named NCC.

Wheaton is a QB away from being a top 4 team in the country. They have depth, experience and lots of talent/speed at every position. Defensively they will be better than ever (and last year they led the nation in sacks). As an added plus they are 3 deep at kicker!

NCC has similar experience and talent returning with different question marks (WR/DB). Those two will definitely be national contenders and top 10/Top 5 teams IMO.

It's an unusually strong top 2 in the CCIW this year.

Not to argue the theory of the crusading Thunder being a QB away from possibly being one of the 4 best teams in the country. However, given that, with the possible exception of a hockey goalie, QB is the most important position on any team in sports, being a QB away might well be akin to being a mile away.   :-\

Maybe they can run effectively and when/if a defense stiffens, they can then bring out any one of the 3 guys to kick a FG! Each of the 3 converts 2 kicks during the game, the mighty defense gives up 17 points, and WC wins 18-17!  :)

I agree having no QB is a mile away and that position could be the achilles heel of this years team, a better way to state that may have been to say if they settle on one of the 3 QB's competing for the job early, and that guy develops normally, the Thunder will be very good. North Central picked a guy last year at QB that ended up being decent.....

decent, if not significant!

No, you have to go a little farther south if you want to find Significant. 😏
I think it's a suburb of Bloomington!

Since Wash-U will become an affiiate member of the CCIW in 2018, I'm adding the Bears to the thread.

Two new assistant coaches have been hired:  Rob Chura and Matt Sinclair.

Wow... small world.  Matt Sinclair was my next door neighbor before he went down to work in athletic department at U of I.  Good coach, great guy.

I am going to have to watch some other games this season if there are two DE's better than Chase Greenlee and Billy Douds.

I think they forgot about Zach Lindquist.     He was first team AA at the end of the year last year and now nowhere to be found?

Apologies to Mr. Kregel.
While I certainly don't, my iPad evidently has a problem with his name. After typing it correctly, my device, for reasons known only to it, changed the name to Krefeld when I hit the space bar. I failed to notice the change/mistake before hitting "post."  >:(

More likely that they didn't know he had or was going to use a fifth year.
