It's been widely known since January that ZL is coming back.

We whiffed. We didn't get that information from our Top 25 voting spreadsheet over to the preseason All-American spreadsheet.

On the other previous topic -- go watch Mamadou Soumahoro play.

On ZL, No biggie, rather have a whiff on the preseason than the post season!

Separately, I am well aware of Mamadou and his 15 nation leading sacks last year. I wasn't aware that, according to the Berry website he:

"Fourced five fumbles (No. 4 in the nation)"

Either way, my statement stands, I'd like to see TWO DE's better than Greenlee and Douds.

Preseason poll is out. Wheaton got picked to win with 5 first place votes and three second place votes. NCC second with 4 of each.

to summarize my pre-season predictions, here is what I have, based on what I know about each team today:

1. Wheaton 10-0, 8-0
2. North Central  9-1, 7-1
3. Carthage 7-3, 5-3
4. IWU 6-4, 5-3
5. Augie 5-5, 4-4
6. North Park 4-6, 3-5
7. Millikin 3-7, 2-6
8. Elmhurst 3-7, 2-6
9. Carroll 1-9, 0-8

Coaches Poll:

1. Wheaton
2. North Central
3. Carthage
4. IWU
5. Elmhurst
6. Augustana
7. Millikin
8. North Park
9. Carroll

Pretty close to my predictions at the top. I am much less optimistic on Elmhurst and more optimistic on North Park than the coaches poll.

Given what IWU has coming back and how tough an early schedule they have, I'd be surprised if they move in conference much higher than 4th.  I'd say it looks like a 5-5 or 6-4 season to me, at best.

Now, now, Mark: IWU is ALWAYS looking at 10-0 until proven otherwise! ;D

Putting down the green glasses, I fear you are right.

Titans opened camp and here is the story including the latest on the QB battle:

I have no knowledge other than as an observer but I would be surprised if Brandon Bauer wasn't the starter come week 1.  But I have been wrong on QB's in the past!

I think the coaches had a blue Kool-Aid beverage at lunch. I would love to see Elmhurst finishing where they poll,  I just don't see that happening.   Agree, the LBB game is going to (most likely) decide the conference championship.

What's happening at North Park these days?

Bracing for an invasion from Samoa?  :D

Did you know? (Per the NCAA)

There were 1,083,308 players on high school football teams across the country n 2015-2016.

Of those, only 6.8% went on to play NCAA football in 2016-2017.

2.6% in Division I
1.8% in Division II
2.4% in Division III

Nope, not Kool-Aid.
Just prior to the voting, Ron Planz announced he was springing for mass quantities of post meeting adult beverages at one of the area's well known watering holes! 🍻  :o  ;)
