With the WARHAWKS coming to town I thought some of you IWU posters might be interested in this....

http://www.uwwsports.com/news/2017/8/22/the-quest-for-36-2017-warhawk-football-preview.aspx?path=football

I'm planning on attending so I was hoping one of you might be able to give me a physical address of the football stadium or something close enough that I'd be able to find it so I can feed it into my GPS.  Looking forward to a good game.

IWU field is pretty easy to find right off the main drag in Bloomington and it's behind the Shirk Center (Fieldhouse). If you put "Shirk Center" into google maps it will take you right to it. Big parking lot next to Shirk for parking. Plenty of eats along the way. Its a few miles in off the interstate (you go past Illinois State Stadium).

I am not a football guy, but the student newspaper had an article about the journey that Washington University took in joining the CCIW and I thought maybe others may have an interest in reading it: http://www.studlife.com/sports/2017/08/24/footballs-conference-status-forces-scheduling-gymnastics/

I am not sure what the consensus opinion is among CCIW fans, but this is certainly the best conference affiliation for the Washington University football program.  I would say this is true even if all the other UAA schools offered football.

While your are planning out your road trips, St. Louis is just a little further down Highway 55...  Saturday, September 16th at the historic Francis Field.

We were able to attend the Wash U game in St Louis a couple of years ago and we were planning on going this year.  Unfortunately that was before my wife discovered that she's working that weekend.  I've been toying with the idea of going myself or trying to find someone I could go with.

Thanks for the information.  I will use it.

You drove down for the 34-0 beat down?  Yikes!  I went to that game and left way early.

I know a few sophomores who said that the Bears will be rebuilding this season, but the expectations are higher for next season if that helps you prioritize.

If you do come down by yourself and want to hangout with a UAA weirdo, I'll buy you a beer at Blueberry Hill.

As time marches on, North Central will eventually have to find a replacement for it's current outstanding soph QB, Broc Rutter.

In Naperville Central's 37-7 win last night, Payton Thorne, son of NCC head coach Jeff, fired 4 TD passes of 25, 20, 60, and 4 yards to 4 different receivers. Thorne is a junior.

Sounds like a classic Western Michigan recruit.  8-)

Wheaton scrimmaged Monmouth today at McCully Stadium. While the 1's were in Wheaton outscored Monmouth 28-0. At the end I think it finished 35-0. The Thunder defense looks very good, as expected and the offense moved the ball well for the most part. One costly turnover and another penalty stopped Wheaton drives. It was an officiated, "controlled" scrimmage. They played 4 quarters and the QB's were in yellow/orange jerseys for non contact. Wheaton QB's were Furrow and McWilliams with  Spencer Peterson getting some time. Guys who stood out to me included:

LB Eric Peterson-He is going to be a POY candidate before the season is done.
DL Patrick O'Connell-he is a load and does not stay blocked
WR Philip Nichols-Very active after the catch, looks like he is ready to break out this year.
RB TJ Williams-freshman RB-he is going to be really good. After tripping over the turf on his first collegiate carry, he broke a long TD and had several other runs where he made people miss.
LT Andrew Jones-long with great feet. Made some great run blocks on the outside zone.
TE Zach Lindquist-he is going to have a better year this year than last
QB's-I thought they all performed well. They are clearly well coached, throw the ball on time, good footwork, not many bad throws.
Chase Greenlee and Noah Spielman only played 1 series.

Wheaton is going to be tough to beat this year with that defense.

Thanks USee. Sounds like some exciting potential.

Don't know if it's the last time, but in 2012 Wheaton hosted Benedictine for a Thursday night opener.
