Wheaton clearly in a tailspin.

That seems extreme.  They lost two games in the last minute to decent teams.  They're literally two plays away from being the #4 team in D3.

Two plays from being #4 versus out of the top 25?  Is that how voting works?   If that is the case you might as well keep them at 6 or 7 given the Thunder have a sample size of several hundred plays this year.   In the last few years these games don't come down to two plays.

Somewhere between your suggestion that Wheaton is in a "tailspin" and Wheaton should stay ranked 6 or 7 exists something that is reasonable.  Try and find that.

That's sarcasm, wally_wabash.   Wheaton is not 6 or 7 in the nation.    Going from national title aspirations to a likely 7-3 finish is whatever you want to call it.

AndOne

Perhaps "tailspin" feels appropriate to describe a situation in which the team was likely thinking of a deep playoff run but now, after 2 consecutive unexpected losses, faces the distinct likihood of not even making the playoffs?

I think he was just saying that before the two loses they were ranked 5th.  Nothing else.

Massey sez:

Wheaton 42, Millikin 14 (WC 97%, MU 3%)

3%? ???  Evidently, NOT

Scoreboard sez:

Millikin 35, Wheaton 31  :o

I guess Massey has a hard time predicting a Mickey Mouse of an officiating crew being assigned to the game.

Heck, someone needs to say it, it's pretty obvious. 15 penalties for 153 yards. When the defense picks the ball off and it gets negated by a total nonsense roughing the passer call, it's time to call a spade a spade. For the record, hitting the QB while he's releasing the ball is not roughing, it's not late... it's nothing more than hogwash call

Is there any video available that would provide definitive evidence of the roughing call being either valid or bogus?

If said video is provided, will it get written off as "where's the evidence?" like last week's photos were?

Tell you what Thunder. Instead of bitching up one side and down the other, just find the damn video and put it up here. If I see it and feel the call was bogus I'll be glad to support your contention and say it looks bogus to me!

SJF is doing a proper tailspin.  Check that out for a point of reference.

Yikes -- hard to look at SJF's results to date and then realize they were ranked coming into the season...

I think the on-demand game video will be available here, though it's currently not loading.

This is now the third time this season Wheaton has been in double digits in penalties and over 100 yards of penalties.   Let's call a spade a spade as you say.   Wheaton appears to be a team that lacks in some discipline when it comes to penalties.   If it walks like a duck....

Why do kids do nothing say nothing about the millions of people slaughtered in non free countries?
Just don't care because they are not your color or speak your language?

I am a veteran and my step grandfather cared.  He was a marine in France WW2!  Do these kids ever say thank you or think about those who gave their lives unselfishly for others?
Usually not!
So no thanks Milikin from a USAF VETERAN!
