AndOne, am I misinterpreting this? You were part of the officiating crew in Decatur last night?

It's widely known AndOne is a CCIW football official.

So an hour after the game is over, perhaps in the locker room or on the ride home, a member of the officiating crew that helped pull of this 3% upset is posting this. Now that's objectivity at its finest!

Also tough for me when he officiates an IWU/NCC basketball game...but I don't come on here to complain about it.

Well Q, I do get more basketball calls right than I do in football, so you certainly have less opportunity to complain.
Guess I should study my football rule book a little more so my gridiron calls come up to the high standard I've set in the conference basketball arenas.   ;)

It's a bummer that there isn't a replay on the roughing call.  It is worth remember that roughing the passer doesn't always mean late hit.  Had the Wheaton defender hit Stepina on time, but made contact above the shoulders, that's a legit foul.  Hopefully the last few minutes of the game wind up on an archived video somewhere soon.

What?  18 minutes of tape missing . . .

Would love to see the play and see if it was indeed a legit call.

Surely a shocking result in the WC-MU game.  Just seeing it now, on Sunday morning.

IWU has some penalty issues, too -- and needs to clean it up.  Alexander had at least 3 other nice runs called back and Bauer lost a 60+ yard TD run wiped out by another hold.

Surprising to me that WC was so close to MU and gave them the chance to win the game at all.

I'll leave all the referee talk to you'all, esp. to AO.

I was not the one who started all the complaining about the officiating. And others pointed out that this isn't the first game in which the Wheaties have had 100+ yards in penalties. I merely told thunderdog to produce video showing the call was bogus and if I could have a look and felt it was, that I would be the first to second his notion.
I still stand by that. Show me the tape.  :)

Ok, I'd like to clarify my stance on the last 2 weeks.

As for September 30th - IWU @ WC. IWU outplayed WC, period. I thought the team that "deserved" to win, did win. Before getting to my "but... however..." part of this speech, I'd like to highlight the play of IWU's defense as a whole, and then even more so, the front 7. They played like men on a mission. They flat whupped us physically, led by MLB Jordan Hassan (14 tackles). The penetration by the D-Line was uber disruptive all dad gum day long. #54 Eric Dubose, #94 Justin Krzeczkowski, #92 Chance Hilliard were beasts... the list goes on. The secondary too... Just a dominant defensive effort by the Titans.

But... however... in a game of inches, a game where just 1 play here, 1 play there makes the difference between an "L" and a "W", it's tough to accept losing on a "catch" that didn't happen. When there's a sequence of pictures that "tell a story" which is that of WR #81 Zach Walsh making a great effort to haul in a fantastic 1 handed grab, but then lose the ball in it's entirety as he goes down to the ground, that's tough to accept. It's even further tough to accept that the overwhelming response to that sequence of picture has been "where's your evidence?" What? That defies logic to me... It's staring you right in the face. There's a picture of the ball all by itself on the ground (under WC defender Kyle Fox). That's clearly an incomplete pass. Show the pictures to anyone without a dog in the fight and you'll be hard pressed to find someone who thinks it's a catch. Now, that said, that's a really tough call for the official. His view could have been completely obstructed by Fox's body (it probably was). And without the benefit of NFL-like instant replay, I think the ref probably made the right call. Add to that some of the points that Pat Coleman brought up... there was defensive PI on the play. IWU would have had 1st and Goal from the 6ish? with 6 seconds left, no timeouts. That's probably enough time for 2 plays assuming the first play is an incomplete pass. Given the momentum with which IWU was playing, it's highly probable they would have scored. That said, it would've been nice to see Wheaton have that opportunity to make those plays. I think you'd all agree if that was your team on defense.

I do find it a bit curious that Walsh's catch did not make d3's "plays of the week" for week 5. It seems to me that a one handed catch with 6 seconds on the clock to upset the #5 team in the country would be worthy of at least a finalist selection, no? To me, that's somewhat of an admission that there wasn't a catch even if no one other than Thunder fans (even if it's just me) are willing to say so.

As for October 8th - WC & MU. Millikin played a heck of a game. WC also shot themselves in the foot on multiple, multiple, multiple, multiple occasions. I'll admit it was out of line to call the whole officiating crew "Mickey Mouse". Many of the 15 penalties against the Thunder were warranted and the right call. That said, there is no downplaying the significance, the importance, pick whatever superlative you want... of the phantom roughing the passer call on Wheaton that negated an interception that would have sealed a victory for the Thunder. The hit was not late, it was not helmet-to-helmet, it was not excessive. It was a clean football play, period. What the official saw is beyond me. To say this call didn't have a direct impact on the outcome of the game is just crazy in my opinion. I find it difficult to think that any of you , Red-eyed NCC fans, Green-eyed IWU fans, and blue-eyed Millikin fans wouldn't be thinking the exact same thing if that had happened to your team. That's my opinion and I'll stick to it. I don't speak for Wheaton College, their team, their staff, their fans... it's just my opinion and I've stated it. On a forum that's designed for fans to express their opinions about d3 football. If that leaves me on an island, like I said, I'll stick to what I've said here in this post and so be it...

... and that's all I have to say about that... I'll move on now (the crowd cheers...)

It's officially Bell week! Get the Bell baby!

And I'm reliably informed by most secret sources that he knows a thing or two about Jimmy Hoffa's present whereabouts and is writing a book that blows the whistle on the world-wide power of the Bilderbergers and Yale's Bonesmen.

Just for the record, is that your butler's quarters in the left rear of the chopper photo?

Looking at the stats for last night, it looks like Millikin won nearly every stat vs Wheaton, albeit close.  The one that really stands out is turnovers --Wheaton with 4 to Millikin's 1.  The Big Blue is just a solid but very young team.  The remaining season should be an interesting battle for second place.

I think MU and Carthage are right there -- not that much separation from the league leaders right now.

I'm glad IWU has CC and MU at home.

Its actually the residence I'm having built for my Major-Domo who has charge of the butler as well as the stable master, the footman, my valet, my chef, and my personal pilot. 😎

OK, thanks. Now tell me, please, what exactly does a footman do? Take care of one's shoes? Socks? What?

They sent us the video -- the end zone camera angle was screened out by the upright and was useless. Without that, there wasn't anything to show. Thanks, though!
