One never knows, WT. All kinds of sardonic retorts ran through my head when the kid said that, but for once in my life I showed good judgment and refrained from mocking a total stranger in front of his parents.

ESPECIALLY a football player!

He was a little guy, Chuck. Much smaller than me. Likely a receiver or something.

I remember when the Big Ten was called the Big Two Little Eight. I don't think the CCIW is quite there especially with IWU in the mix but this has been a very important game in the conference race. I would like to see it at the end of the season.

The CCIW isn't going to accommodate two schools at the expense of everybody else by allowing them to opt out of the scheduling rotation for football ... and it isn't going to accommodate football in a way that doesn't accommodate any of the other sports when it comes to scheduling procedures, either.

Why not?  The Big 10 accommodates Michigan vs Ohio State the Pac 12 accommodates USC vs UCLA and the ACC and SEC have to work together to accommodate Florida  vs Florida State. Can anyone seriously argue that North Central vs Wheaton isnt bigger than those games?!

Does this league look like the Big 10 to you? Did you wake up this morning and suddenly find yourself the alumnus of a Pac 12 school? Did we all suddenly blink and look around to discover that North Central has magically morphed into the Florida Gators, while Wheaton has been transmogrified into Free Shoes U?

C'mon, man. This is D3, not D1. Your D1 comparisons don't fly here. Football is not a revenue sport in this league in terms of TV contracts, ticket sales, and merch, nor do D3 schools tolerate the kinds of inequities that are a part of the landscape in D1, where two sports basically bankroll everything. I hate to break it to you, but football is just another sport in the CCIW. Yeah, it's a required sport because of the bylaws, but it's not going to get any special favors in the way that it's treated by the nine administations.

(Actually, I'm pretty sure that you were trolling me with that post, but in order to keep the discussion going I'm answering you straight up, anyway. ;) )

Because the Big 10 is the Big 10 and the CCIW is D3.  Also, don't kid your self about the history of NCC vs Wheaton in CCIW football.  It is not even close to being comparable to Michigan/Ohio State or the others you mention.  This game has only taken on true importance (from a standpoint of determining the CCIW champion) starting in the 2006 season.  Since that time, NCC and/or Wheaton has finished in 1st and 2nd place 7 times.  To say the CCIW should change the scheduling rotation to accommodate a last game NCC/Wheaton match up based on that history, is kind of ridiculous.  What about the 59 seasons prior to that.

This, too.

Somebody had to take the bait (and ruin your fun)!!   :D  As much as I respect what NCC and Wheaton have done with their football programs, I look forward to the day when the Little Brass Bell game has less meaning to the ultimate outcome of the CCIW, than it does today.  Not sure when it will happen, but, eventually, it will.  If you asked me ten years ago or so, if I thought Augie would ever have a last place finish in the CCIW, I would have said no way that happens.  Then look what happened to them in 2017.

NCC is 31-55-1 against Augie. That is with 12 or so wins in a row.  So, lots of years of Augie dominance but nothing lasts forever in football, so I will enjoy it while I can.

Why don't you just enjoy the Little Brass Bell rivalry game for what it is?  It's one of the best D-III Traveling Trophies around along with the Cortaca Jug, Monon Bell, etc.   Yes, the LBB winner has likely been the CCIW champ the last few years, but that doesn't tarnish the importance, history, fun, and rivalry of the game.

Elmhurst at one point was like 49-3-1 in favor of Augie with their last win coming in 1979.  The Jays have been able to put together a few more wins, but this was a series dominated by Vikes for years.     On the flip side,  the Elmhurst/NC matchup *used to be* pretty close, until NC has won I don't know how many in a row... Don't take my post to seriously. As much as I love NCC i dont really believe we have become USC or Ohio State. And yes the LBB game is a fun rivalry but until recently relatively meaningless to the conference race.

For many years NCC was a little four team and maintains a losing series record against the old big four and Carroll for that matter. Probably will never catch Augie but who cares?  The CCIW is a competitive fun to watch league. How long can NCC compete for titles?  No idea. But i will enjoy it while it lasts.

Kind of funny. Should we all vote trending up from every device since perception becomes reality?  Kind of voting "Chicago  style"
