The game in Naperville is the marquee game of the day and the season. Naperville and/or Wheaton have been a part of the CCIW championship every year since 2001.

I don't see a huge advantage either way with these two teams. They are very close. Both teams are loaded and have great skill players and special teams. The only difference may be that Wheaton has played a tougher schedule so far. This will come down to who controls the line of scrimmage and turnovers.

Also it concerns me that the game means much more to Wheaton.  If they lose their season is basically finished.  I hate to play good teams in must win situations.

Wheaton certainly is playing for their post season lives. Yet Naperville has been pointing to this game for a year after getting handled in Wheaton last year. Motivation is high on both sides.

So you hate the playoffs, too?   :D

Ok ok. In the regular season. Although we haven't exactly overachieved in the playoffs.

Yes but a year later lots of the key participants in that game are gone. And plenty more on the team that were somewhere else. On the other hand it is now or never for the Crusaders.

Wash U 44
North Park 21

The two teams combined for over a thousand yards of offense in a pretty free-wheeling contest. The good news for the Vikings is that they racked up 480 yards of that total. The bad news is that Wash U topped the 600-yard mark. Johnny Davidson is a really good quarterback with an accurate arm and great escapability -- he eluded what looked like sure sacks by NPU several times today -- and he has a fantastic receiving corps.

I'm focusing on the positive, which is that this was the best that the North Park offense has looked in a really long time. Justice Macneal-Young became the first Vikings RB in five years to top the century mark, as he tallied 107 yards and a TD in 22 carries. And Grant Borsch looked really solid today, going 30-43 for 353 yards and a pair of TDs, one of which, a 73-yarder to Josh Casey, is the second-longest catch by a Viking in the Mike Conway era.

Wash U is a very strong team, and the Bears are going to be tough for any defense in this league to stop. But it was good to see the NPU offense rack up some positives, too.

(It was 63-0 going into the fourth quarter, I think.)

Not sure anyone saw that coming. NCC had no answer for Wheaton's offense.

That was not fun to watch.  The NCC defense was a disaster.  Couldn't stop the run and backed that up with not covering anyone!   Very disappointing.  The NCC offensive line didn't give #9 much time and we had to go to quick routes to get anything completed.     >:(

A great game all around for the Thunder congratulations to the players and coaches.
NCC has some things to work on and will probably be a much improved team by the end of the conference play.

I hope that the two players who received those late hits are ok it was a horrible thing to watch.
I had one late hit and it was the most embarrassing and humiliating that I had done on the fb field.  I couldn't figure out why it happened.  It took nearly a year to figure it out.
I had always been a very clean player.

What it is or can be is the shut off switch in the brain.  You get all hyped up in certain big games promise your fellow players and coaches to give all.  Dick Butkus had massive problems with this as many coaches who new him etc told these stories of not only how hard he could hit but he would not stop playing after tackling the player.

I had a list of 1-4 words for almost everything I did on the field.  Each word in sequence sped up the thinking process and had a vast meaning of what to do with the perfect technique. Defensive line
1 gap = race to the gap one forearm on the offensive lineman wroth arm to the players side "my perfect technique"
2 ball = were is the ball run pass stay in gap until sure ball is not coming here, pass begin pass rush etc..
3 pursuit = take the perfect pursuit angle remaining in an athletic position

Except on the kickoff where I hit the return guy late as he slid down.  It was a game against Mt Carmel 1st of the year were the team was hyped up and I was going against all American Tony Furjanic lb who seemed to be in the Chicago papers every week.  Coaches and players gave me cutout of him lifting, playing etc..  I was hyped and foaming at the mouth. and the first play on the kickoff was guilty of a late hit.

After that I used a two word for sliding players with the ball.  I never had problem with qb's as it was expected but I had never experienced it otherwise especially on a kickoff.
1. Caution = play is ending player is sliding
2.  hands = use hands only one or two touching the players jersey not pushing or hands just above jersey.

Using these 1-4 key words each having a specific detailed meaning to the player will speed up a players thinking process their game and help keep the  penalties down while keeping opposing vulnerable players especially qbs safe.

The first Wheaton ejection didn't seem that bad to me since it was probably legal when I played. The second ejection was as bad a play as I have ever seen. Launching helmet to helmet into a sliding quarterback who has given himself up is dangerous for both players but especially for the one being targeted.

The Cards showed great restraint post play as they had to be frustrated since we were getting our tails kicked. Difficult not to retaliate  so kudos for their discipline (but not for their play) Don't  know if that play comes with a suspension.  In D1 it is the next half.
